Yngwie J. Malmsteen’s Rising Force Yngwie Malmsteen/Osaka, Japan 1988

This is a complete recording of the Osaka Festival Hall performance on August 17th from the 1988 Japan tour accompanying the release of the album “Odyssey,” in which the collaboration with Joe Lynn Turner caused a big stir. With stable, high-quality sound, you can enjoy the entire concert to the fullest. In the first song, “Rising Force,” Joe makes a mistake in the second verse (lol), but the vocals are generally stable and you can enjoy Joe’s wonderful style in every song. Both Yngwie’s guitar and Jance’s keyboard are recorded clearly, and every song, including the solos, is well worth listening to. Most of the songs on the album are performed live, which makes you realize how rich the songs on the album are. I think that was the case with the actual PA, but the sound quality gets better and better as the concert progresses, and (Disc 2), which is full of Yngwie’s amazing guitar solos, has the best sound quality. The expected Rainbow number was only a part of “Street Of Dreams” played in the second half of “You Don’t Remember…”, but for the encore, they played “Highway Star” in its entirety with the MC saying “This is a song that was played here at the Osaka Festival Hall 16 years ago”, and the fans were ecstatic. (Yngwie did a perfect copy of “LIVE IN JAPAN” as a solo.) This is an album that makes you realize once again how incredible Yngwie was in the ’80s.
