Description

Yngwie Malmsteen’s “ODYSSEY” UK tour with Joe Lynn Turner will begin with the Folkestone performance on November 14th and continue with nine performances until the Paul performance on November 24th. The performance at London’s “Dominion Theater” on November 20th, where this sound source was recorded, will be the 6th performance since the start of the tour. After the Japan tour in August, the band had about three months off, but they had regained more than enough stage instincts at shows all over the country, including the Nottingham performance and London. It is no exaggeration to describe the performance as the peak of the UK tour. This work is a sound source previously released as “1988: AN AXE ODYSSEY” that has been re-recorded after careful sound quality correction from the original master. It has already been 18 years since his first appearance in 2002, and more and more people, even die-hard Yngwie fans, say they don’t know about it. It’s too bad to be forgotten. From the opening songs “Rising Force” and “Liar”, the well-planned sound with just the right amount of sharpness and roundness is easy to listen to, and the easy-to-grasp contours and cohesive musical tones clearly convey the live performance to the listener. . Joe’s vocals, which clearly resonate from the center of the stereo, are especially wonderful, and together with Yngwie’s guitar, the sound is impressive. Furthermore, the first half of the live show, where famous songs such as “Queen In Love”, “Deja Vu”, and “You Don’t Remember, I’ll Never Forget” are played, is so spectacular that the listeners don’t even have time to catch their breath! Yngwie also played more enthusiastically than usual in front of the discerning London fans, and from “Crystal Ball” to “Far Beyond The Sun”, both the sound and solo are especially wonderful guitars. The sound is even better on disc 2. “Dreaming (Tell Me)” and “Don’t Let It End” reflect the close atmosphere of the venue, and the direct sound that makes it seem like the performance is unfolding right in front of the listeners is a big listening point. Even in “Fury” and “Now Is The Time”, the combination of Joe and Yngwie shows a wonderful combination, and you will be overwhelmed by the never-ending melodious songs and performances. From “Trilogy Suite Op.5”, which includes the guitar solo and “Krakatau”, the show reaches its climax with “Heaven Tonight”, but unfortunately the recording ends at the coda part of “Heaven Tonight”. It’s a shame that it ends here because the sound and performance are great, but it’s still 87 minutes of entertainment that you can enjoy more than enough. After completing this UK tour, RISING FORCE will immediately begin a European tour on November 26th. The Gothenburg, Sweden performance on December 18th and the Stockholm performance on the 19th were huge successes for Yngwie as a “triumphal return performance” to his home country. However, from January to February of the following year, the band toured the Soviet Union for a total of 20 performances (in only two cities, Moscow and Leningrad!), and the atmosphere within the band deteriorated, and RISING FORCE, which was typical of a band, came to an end. The London performance was a particularly exciting performance on the UK tour where RISING FORCE gave a fulfilling performance, and the combination of Joe and Yngwie will be more enjoyable than the official live performance! !
