Description

Taper’s original audience master, which was leaked on the internet in recent years, shows the live performance at Glasgow’s Apollo Theater on November 6th and 7th from the UK tour accompanying the release of the album “Ultimate” in 1977. More coupling recording. Although some parts such as the encore part on the first day and the opening on the second day are not recorded, the quality was good at the time, and it can be said to be a valuable recorded sound source now. Rick Wakeman returned and returned to the lineup from the golden era for this tour, which took place in North America and Europe over a period of about six months, and as it was the final stage of the tour, the cohesiveness of the performances was excellent, and the set was golden. Starting with “Firebird Suite”, which is unique to this period. Then, as early as the third song, “Close To The Edge”, which has an interesting arrangement in the latter half, appears, and after that, it progresses with the “ultimate” number in between, especially at the end, which can be said to be the prelude to “Awaken”, which is only available at this time. “Flight Jam” emphasizes rhythm, with an arrangement reminiscent of later world music. The highlight song, the dramatic last song, “Awaken,” is amazing, and Howe also performed a tremendous solo in the second half of the final encore of the first day, Yours Is No Disgrace. Anyway, it’s a series of big songs until the end, and among them, the symphonic and exciting dramatic part can be said to be miraculous for an audience recording at that time, and is a must-listen item for fans who want to know the wonders of the “ultimate” tour.
