Description

From the end of October to December, the new Yes’s 2009 European tour featuring Benoit David and Oliver Wakeman was organized on a large scale. The second day of the UK tour, which consisted of seven performances, was recorded in full at the Hammersmith Apollo in London on November 17th with high quality audience recording. This is a must-listen for fans, using the original DAT master directly, which is not available even among traders. After a long tour, the band ensemble is stable, Benoit’s vocals are on the board, and there is no sense of instability, so you can listen with confidence. This is the first time that this lineup has performed in the UK, and it is a live performance in their hometown of London. The Yes fans who came in large numbers were very favorable to the new members, and they even gave warm cheers to Chris’s member introduction before Tempus Fugit. I think this was the PA sound on the day, but the sound quality of the first song, Siberian Khatru, feels somehow plain, but the sound quality becomes brighter from the rhythmic change of the second song, I’ve Seen All Good People, and the overall scale of the sound is also fully realized, and it is recorded with a wonderful sound from then until the end. The MC part is the same everywhere, and Benoit performs a short MC before Onward. Onward is breathtakingly beautiful, and Benoit’s vocals are also clear and wonderful, giving a moving performance. Before Astral Traveler, it is the usual Howe, which is also concise. Around this point, the punchy sound resonates wonderfully, and the ensemble of soft and satisfying sounds is overwhelming, and the complex band combination is deeply tasteful. The drum solo arrangement incorporated in the middle is also brilliant. Here, the big classic Yours Is No Disgrace and And You And I are played consecutively, greatly pleasing the fans. Benoit also performs a superb vocal on And You And I, which requires delicate vocals. Howe’s solos on the daily menu are Corkscrew and Sketches In The Sun. In the second half of the show, he performs his representative songs one after another. The flow of Owner Of A Lonely Heart (Howe’s unique solo in the second half is surprising!), South Side Of The Sky, and Machine Messiah is really fresh with its dizzying changes in tune. The last is the classic of classics, Heart Of The Sunrise, Roundabout, and the encore Starship Trooper, and the show is closed on the royal road line. The sound image is stable from start to finish, making it the perfect piece to enjoy Yes now. A high-quality document of the latest UK tour, which was a huge success.
