Description

The release of “FILLMORE 1967 & CONCORD 1968”, an excavated sound source of the late Yardbirds, is still fresh in my memory, but they have released even more late-stage live sound sources. It was an audience recording of Concord’s live performance at the Allen Theater in Cleveland, which took place a month ago. Although the sound source has existed for a long time, it has never been released as an item until now. This is because it is not only at the level of a vintage audience, but also a fairly rough recording (bitter smile). When the opening “Train Kept A-Rollin’” begins, it is funny to hear “The Yardbirds!” into the microphone, but the important recording level is quite saturated. As a result, when the volume of the performance gets louder, the sound becomes distorted. It seems that the item was not released because of this recording condition rather than the fact that it was an incomplete recording of 30 minutes. However, by accurately adjusting the low pitch of the original sound source, the rough sound source was restored to a state where it could be heard. The original recording was all the more difficult to listen to due to its saturation and slow pitch. By adjusting the pitch in this way, not only did the contours of the performance come through, but it also made it easier to hear songs like “Dazed & Confused,” which had many quiet parts despite being recorded in a saturated manner, and “White Summer,” in which Jimmy performed solo. Since that creaky distortion subsides, you can hear it surprisingly well. What’s more, both songs were also developed on ZEP’s stage after this. Of course, overall it is still a sound source for enthusiasts, but on the other hand it is also a valuable record. I also like how easy it is to listen to it in just 30 minutes. Please try the unreleased sound source of the dynamic late Yardbirds that roared in Cleveland in the United States in the midst of plenty of momentum (Remastered memo) We have corrected the pitch that is about a semitone slower.
