Description
A luxurious package that fans will love will be released, containing all nine performances from the “Monsters of Rock” tour in May 2003, where Y&T toured the UK with Gary Moore and WHITESNAKE! This “Vol.1” album contains six performances, from the first day of the tour in Brighton on May 12th to the Cardiff performance on May 19th. This is a must-have 6-disc set for any Y&T fanatic! WHITESNAKE, led by David Coverdale, resumed their activities in 2003 to commemorate the “25th anniversary of the band’s formation” and toured with a new lineup. For their “triumphant return” to the UK, they adopted a format of touring with multiple bands under the name of the “Monsters of Rock” tour. The “special guest” chosen was Gary Moore, who has been friends with David since the ’80s. Gary also decided to participate in the tour after being directly requested by David. Although WHITESNAKE and Gary alone were more than enough of a luxurious package, this alone was a little small for the scale of the live performance associated with the name “Monsters of Rock”. So Y&T was asked to participate further. Here, their 2003 UK tour was held in the form of a festival featuring three bands, WHITESNAKE, GARY MOORE and Y&T. In 2011, three “MONSTERS OF ROCK TAPES” series, which recorded all of Gary Moore’s stages, were released for this 2003 “Monsters of Rock”, and became a hot topic among fans. This time, the world’s first original DAT master, recorded with the same taper, is used in full. In this “Vol.1”, the patterns from the first day of the tour to the sixth performance are completely recorded with superb audience recordings that are superb. Just like Gary’s, this Y&T “MONSTERS OF ROCK TOUR 2003” series will be a must-have legendary title for hard rock enthusiasts! Disc 1 contains the performance at Brighton on May 12th, the first day of the tour. From the moment the impressive intro of “Black Tiger” began to play, the excitement of the fans was palpable. The main part of the song also started with a furious momentum! There is no Y&T fan who will not be overwhelmed by this “Black Tiger” and the following “Hurricane”. The recording clarity is also excellent, and the sound image that captures the performance with a certain brightness will firmly grab the listener’s heart from the beginning of the live. The outline and separation of each instrument are also excellent, and Meniketti’s guitar and vocals, as well as Leonard Hayes’ drums, approach with a play reminiscent of the ’80s. John Nyman’s rhythm guitar is also very solid. It can be said that this is an ideal audience recording for enjoying the performance of a hard and sharp-edged band. Next, the Bournemouth performance on the second day of the tour was recorded on Disc 2. The balance is the same as the Brighton performance take, but the sound image allows you to experience the atmosphere of the venue and the natural sound spread more. Of course, the visibility is clear. In particular, the guitar that can be heard in this recording is outstanding. This is proven by “Black Tiger” and “Dirty Girl”. The presence of the guitar, which seems to be a mix of line sound sources, will draw you into the live performance even if you are not a Y&T fan. With this guitar sound, even the catchy “Summertime Girls” is heavy. In the highlight of the show, “I Believe In You”, you will be captivated by Meniketti’s lustrous guitar tone. You can’t miss every single detail of his play! (There seems to have been technical trouble in the intro on this day, which is also an interesting record.) Disc 3 contains the live performance in Manchester on May 15th. The ease of listening and overall ease of grasping the performance is excellent enough to be called the best in this work, and you can listen to the live performance carefully from the opening “Black Tiger” and “Eyes Of A Stranger”. The cheers of the audience are also modest, and “Dirty Girl” and “I Believe In You” allow you to enjoy Meniketti’s guitar tone and tearful melody. If you listen to these emotional guitars and melodies, you will understand why Meniketti is called a “living national treasure” by maniacs, just like Gary. The Gary and Y&T package in this “Monsters of Rock” is a truly ideal combination. Disc 4 is the performance at the Birmingham NEC on May 16th. The sound image, which centers around Meniketti’s guitar and the band’s performance emerges with the same realism as a line source, will greatly delight fans. This is a great sound source for those who want to listen carefully to the live performance. From this day, the opening was changed to “Mean Streak”. In the middle of the set, “Rescue Me” is also featured, further emphasizing the hard and melodic Y&T sound. This recording’s highlight is “Rescue Me.” This take fully showcases Meniketti’s charm with clear guitar and soulful vocals, and the dramatic development and guitar solo that hits the spot will also pluck at the heartstrings of fans. In “Dirty Girl” and “Summertime Girls,” which follow this song, Phil Kennemore and Leonard Hayes’ rhythms are captured with great strength, allowing you to enjoy the world of Y&T to the fullest. The performance at London’s “Wembley Arena” on May 17th, included on Disc 5, is the biggest stage of this “Monsters of Rock” tour. The visibility of this recording is good, but unfortunately, like the recording heard on Gary Moore’s “MONSTERS OF ROCK TAPES Vol.2,” the overall sound is a bit over-peaked, with cracks and distortion. However, the loud performance and vivid realism of the largest venue on the tour directly conveys the power of the live performance at the traditional Wembley Arena to the listener. In particular, “Mean Streak” appeals to the listener with its rough charm, and the heavy “Eyes Of A Stranger” is also amazing. Meniketti is in good form on both guitar and vocals, and the band gives a passionate performance worthy of a big stage. The excitement of the last song “Forever” is unique to a large venue, and you can tell that both the band and the fans are enjoying the live performance very much. On Disc 6, you can enjoy the performance at the “International Arena” in Cardiff on May 19th. In contrast to the Wembley performance, which was a little over the peak, this recording features a sound that combines a powerful direct feeling and easy listening. You can enjoy the band’s performance with a clear view and a realistic sound image with excellent spread. From the fast-paced opening “Mean Streak,” you can hear the dynamic performance, and you can enjoy Meniketti’s guitar and vocals with a thick sound in “Rescue Me” and “Dirty Girl.” The final “Forever” is both enjoyable to listen to and the performance is excellent, making it a superb take that is worthy of concluding this “Vol.1.” The large volume of about 45 minutes per show, and about 270 minutes for six shows, is sure to overwhelm all hard rock fans! Along with “Vol.2,” which contains the latter three shows, this work is a must-listen and must-have item for maniacs who love Y&T live shows. As a Y&T item in recent years, this is undoubtedly one of the biggest! This highly recommended package is now released in a deluxe 6-disc set!
