Description

Y&T performed a very moving performance in Japan. This week, when the big decision board “KAWASAKI 2017” appears, we have prepared a superb professional shot of their brave figure exactly 30 years ago. This work contains “August 29, 1987 Kansas City performance”. It is a multi-camera professional shot from the problematic work “CONTAGIOUS” era. Although it has been known among enthusiasts for a long time, this work is not a copy of it. It is a DVD of the master leaked by the people involved that has appeared recently. The quality is as expected of the master involved. Naturally, the analog shooting of the 1980s cannot be spoken of by modern digital standards, but the freshness is so wonderful that you wonder what the old footage was. There is no tape twist or line noise, and the coloring is extremely vivid. The visual beauty is so vivid that it is hard to believe that it has jumped over 30 years. Of course, the sound is also a superb sound board that is worthy of the scene. “When I was cleaning my room, the official video from that time came out of the name of the shelf” … it’s such a superb feeling. And the Y&T of 30 years ago depicted by that quality is also wonderful. The opening is a “super Y&T” opening from “From The Moon / Open Fire” to “Mean Streak”, but after that, it’s a big performance from the new album “CONTAGIOUS” at the time. This work features 10 songs, excluding each person’s solo, and of those, 6 songs, which is the majority, are new songs. At the time, the album “CONTAGIOUS” had a somewhat austere image, but the songs that felt quieter changed completely when they got into the heat of the stage. Although they were originally a genuine live band, it was rare for their image to change so much from the album… it’s such a strong version. The sight makes the “rebirth” image even more intense. Dave Meniketti, who was still 33 years old, was in the prime of his prime as a performer, and his singing voice and guitar had reached the level of a master, but he didn’t feel any decline or withering. On top of that, they are dressed in glittering costumes that are very “1987-like”. They perform an intense performance in an outfit that is like Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crime and Punishment” or Bon Jovi’s “Lay Your Hands On Me”. Of course, the late originators Phil Kennemore and Joey Alvis are in good health, and new member Jimmy DeGrasso, who will later become famous with MEGADETH and others, is 24 years old and still young and lively. “1987” erupts fiercely from the screen and the speakers. Looking back at history, “1987” was the first step towards the first disbandment. However, the struggle that was visible in the studio work was not on the stage, which is where it should be. Even if a corner of the original lineup collapsed, it was a positive decision for them at the time, and they were full of the spirit of “going even higher!” This work is a fresh and beautiful physical evidence of that. Asking the world about the “new Y&T”… No, this is a valuable product that captured them trying to slam it down with the finest multi-camera professional shots.
