Description
The documentary film “WHITNEY” was released in the US, and Whitney Houston still has a tremendous presence. A pro shot in Japan of her at the peak is being released. Whitney has visited Japan seven times in her life, but this work was filmed for the fourth time. This is a superb multi-camera pro shot of the “March 15, 1991: Yokohama Arena” performance. In her previous visits to Japan, she had traveled all over the country, but in 1991, she only performed at Yokohama Arena twice. This work was the concert on the second day. The quality is truly superb. It has been digitized from the air check master broadcast at the time, but the image is so beautiful that it is hard to believe it was 27 years ago. There are no dubbing marks, so it seems that the recording master itself was used, but there is no sense of aging at all. The image quality and color are vivid throughout, and the sound board sound is perfect without a single piece of noise. It is a commemorative program by a certain satellite broadcasting station that opened in that year, but it was probably broadcast with the station’s prestige at stake. Even in today’s digital era, the quality is so high that it deserves to be called “official grade”. The quality depicts Whitney’s passionate performance, who was 27 years old at the time. The set is full of big hits from her debut to “I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT”. The movie “The Bodyguard” was released in 1992, so “I Will Always Love You” is not included, but seven of the 11 songs on this album are number one hits in the United States. Moreover, it is not just a greatest hit. She also sings new songs at the time, such as “Anymore” and “Who Do You Love”, which were not released as singles, and she also performs the rare song “In Return”, which is rarely sung outside of Japan. The Norfolk performance, which took place two weeks after this work, is also available as the official work “WELCOME HOME HEROES WITH WHITNEY HOUSTON”, but “In Return” and “So Emotional” are not available there either. What is more moving than such a luxurious set is Whitney’s singing voice itself. In fact, this visit to Japan was the kickoff point for the “I’M YOUR BABY TONIGHT WORLD TOUR 1991”. A wild rock band would need several performances before they could get into their groove, but a super major band like hers would be thoroughly rehearsed in advance and perfect from the start. There was no fatigue, and only the enthusiasm that the tour was about to begin was in her singing voice, giving us plenty of beautiful, lustrous voices. 27-year-old Whitney Houston was in the midst of her prime. This is a live in Japan that will show off plenty of classic songs that shine with her beautiful singing voice. This is a superb multi-camera pro shot that is a memory of the Japanese performance, but also a top-class musical work. Live at Yokohama Arena, Yokohama, Japan 15th March 1991 PRO-SHOT (78:43) 1.
