Description

From the mysterious WHITESNAKE’s first performance in Japan, the April 15th Nakano Sunplaza performance (second day), which is the third day in Tokyo, is now available! As if to compete with “LIVEHUNTER” which gave fans a big surprise, this is also a high-quality audience recording and complete recording disc that directly uses the original master tape provided by the recorder! Like “LIVEHUNTER”, this work also comes with a ticket for the recorder, making it an excellent source of documentation. After 22 years, the mystery of WHITESNAKE’s first visit to Japan will be revealed (with high sound quality comparable to that of “DRAGONSNAKE”)! What is the “mystery” of WHITESNAKE’s first visit to Japan? Their first tour to Japan began with a performance at Postal Savings Hall in Tokyo on April 11th, and after a 10-day schedule, a total of eight performances were held, ending with a performance at Shibuya Public Hall on April 21st. Five concerts were booked for Tokyo, including the opening and closing dates, the Nakano Sunplaza performance on the 14th and 15th, and the Shibuya Public Hall performance on the 19th. As this tour was realized amidst the high expectations of fans, much of this live performance in Tokyo remains as an audience recording. In particular, live performances in Nakano have been famous for the item “TOKYO BITES” since the analog era. It had an excellent sound at the time, and is known as one of the classics among enthusiasts. However, later on, the sound board sound source appeared as “April 15th”, which confused the information on the recording schedule. “TOKYO BITES”, which has different content from the sound board, came to be considered “14th” even in Nakano, and that continued until recently. However, since the recently released songs “FIRST BITE IN JAPAN” and “LIVEHUNTER” confirmed the correct dates using objective materials such as tickets, verification of the 1980 Tokyo performance has made great progress. The correct picture has become clear. And this work that will be released this time is not only a high-quality live album, but also a super important item that will affect the history of the band! The original master of the aforementioned analog era masterpiece “TOKYO BITES” was discovered along with the ticket for the day. According to the included ticket, this sound source was recorded on April 15th at Nakano Sunplaza, in “1st floor, row 7, number 9.” The content is of course the same as “TOKYO BITES”, but the freshness and clarity unique to the original master is outstanding. In front of the high-quality sound that far exceeds the sound image known for analog boot, even veteran enthusiasts will be surprised and wonder, “The recording was actually this amazing!” As you can tell by listening to the opening and first song “Come On,” the sound image captures not only the performance but also the atmosphere and the excitement of the venue, with a very active sound that is ideal for the passionate WHITESNAKE live at that time. I will entertain you. “Come On,” which slowly accompanies the listener to the band’s performance, “You ‘n’ Me,” which immerses the listener in its driving dynamism, and “Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues,” which requires no questions asked (resounds in the intro). The guitar sounds really great)! If you listen to the first three songs, you will understand how passionate WHITESNAKE live performances at that time were and how deep they were in the blues. In the past, the analog and disc-based “TOKYO BITES” had a narrow range and a noticeable hiss noise. However, in this work by Master Direct, the clear sound that allows you to see everywhere is exquisite. The tone of “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City”, which even has a sense of transparency, is a major listening point of this work. The song by Coverdale, the main character, is even better than the previous day. “Lovehunter”, led by Mickey Moody’s unique guitar solo, is a passionate performance that leaves the listener pleasantly intoxicated, and “Mistreated”, with Bernie Marsden’s wonderful guitar, is an overwhelming song that overflows with passion. This day’s “Mistreated” includes “Soldier Of Fortune”, which was not played on the 14th, and will dramatically enhance the live highlight! Jon Lord’s organ solo, which decorates the beginning of Disc 2, incorporates the second period PURPLE numbers such as “Child In Time” and “Woman From Tokyo” to keep the listener from getting bored. Ian Paice’s solo that continues from “Belgian Tom’s Hat Trick” is also really dynamic. This is an exquisite take where you can clearly feel the goodness of the recording. The fun excitement of “Lie Down” and the festive commotion of “Take Me With You” that involved the entire venue were perfect for the climax of the live performance! In the encore songs “Rock Me Baby” and “Breakdown / Whitesnake Boogie”, the sound is a little muffled due to the master state, but even so, the charm of the hot live performance is lost a little until the last “We Wish You Well”. there is no! “LIVEHUNTER” recorded by Miracle Man, which recorded the previous day on the 14th, was literally of soundboard quality, surprising the enthusiasts with “WHITESNAKE’s live performance at the same time, you couldn’t ask for a better audience recording”. However, even at the next day’s live performance, there was an audience recording that was comparable to this (and it was a complete recording of over 100 minutes!), so it is something that the world does not understand. “FIRST BITE IN JAPAN” on April 11th, “LIVEHUNTER” on the 14th, and this work on the 15th. Listening to the three performances in Tokyo all at once with the best sound source is a luxury only available to enthusiasts.
