Coverdale during his time at Geffen had a burning ambition to conquer the United States even though he drastically changed his visual appearance. The “SLIP OF THE TONGUE” tour, which is the far north, can only be fully imagined by watching it on video. There is also an official DVD of the same tour, “LIVE AT DONIGTON 1990,” but that was at a British festival far away in time and place. This work is probably suitable. When played back, the image quality is very similar to that of a video converted to DVD, but the colors are very natural. Steve Vai’s costume, which has become “yellow-green and pink” in DAVE LEE ROTH BAND, is clearly visible, and zooms are often used to quickly zoom in on the highlights. What makes this vivid spectacle especially enjoyable is Vai’s solo time. Even the official video had low saturation and gave a plain impression, but in this work, the mirror-coated guitar that shines as evidence is dazzling, making you think, “Oh, this costume is purple” and “Even the strap is green.” It’s so noticeable. Even the interludes are a highlight. Because it’s a video, you can understand even the gestures, and because it’s an audience shoot, you can clearly see the customer’s reaction. Coverdale, the genius of the audience, is facing the most enthusiastic audience of his life… Then, the light of the lighter spreads out like an ocean, and the moving chorus of “Here I Go Again” envelops you. Oh, how wonderful it would have been if this scene had been filmed in Donington too… What was the scene that the Scandinavian magician saw in his homeland of America, and what was the atmosphere he breathed while spinning the tape? This is a real documentary that fills the screen. This is the perfect audio video to enjoy “SLIP IN LAGUNA HILLS” and “SLIP IN SAN DIEGO” with rich imagery, and to learn how amazing Coverdale was when they dominated the United States.
