Description

The legendary soundboard album, which was said to be the most shocking work of the White Snake title, has been reprinted as the best and longest in history. [Upgraded the legendary super-high-quality soundboard with an official take] The shocking work is “LIVE… IN THE HEART OF THE CITY COMPLETE” from the Langley label, which took the world by storm 14 years ago. Yes, this is the leaked sound board of the people involved in the “June 24, 1980 Hammersmith Odeon performance” that produced the official masterpiece “LIVE… IN THE HEART OF THE CITY”. This title is truly legendary. After all, it is Classic Snake’s masterpiece from the official version, but the original source was leaked. Moreover, the inside was also amazing. It’s super high quality with no trace of dubbing as it was leaked by the people involved, and it’s packed with famous songs and MCs that were officially deleted. Even the songs that were adopted are completely different from the official version, which is full of overdubs, and there are plenty of 100% live performances from the on-site stage. Every song was different in some way from the final version, and it was the real version of “LIVE… IN THE HEART OF THE CITY” where no song was exactly the same. Although it was such a shocking sound, contrary to the title of “COMPLETE”, it was not perfect. I will explain the details later, but there were cuts in the solos of Mickey Moody and Ian Paice, and the order of some songs was also changed. This work compensates for such shortcomings as much as possible with the official version “LIVE… IN THE HEART OF THE CITY”. Of course, as long as it is connected to the official version, the entire sound will be polished with the latest remastering, pursuing the official feel to the limit. This is a definitive edition that far exceeds the original edition in terms of recording time and sound. This work is superlative as a single live album, but even if you explore the differences between the official version and the real show, it is interesting to see the behind-the-scenes. This time, let’s introduce the highlights of each song. ●Disc 1 “Come On” ★From the beginning, it is very different from the official final version. The official version starts with the guitar sound of “Come One”, but this work starts with a vivid sound check sound and is recorded for about 30 seconds longer. Not only is it longer, but the performance and mix are also quite different. For example, in this work, there is a bass drum in the background of the intro riff, but it is deleted in the official version. Also, the shout “Oh, look out!” before the guitar solo is officially “Aaghhh!”, and if Barney’s solo is completely different, the last part “Must be gypsys in…” would also have been replaced. . I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that…but at the same time, the second vocalist says, “I’ll fix this.” In this work, perhaps because the microphone was aimed at the audience, it turned off and turned out white, but in the official version, he sings properly. “Sweet Talker” ★The band performance, including the solo, is almost the same as the official one. Of course, the sound is different, wilder and cooler than the official one, and has a lot of speed. On the other hand, the vocals have been completely replaced. This song has a really “live!” singing quality that is the best. “Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues” ★This song begins with a long MC, which is not official, and the vocals are fresh. For a while, it’s the same as the official version, at most the second verse “or hesitate” and part of the bridge part, but the third verse has been completely replaced. What goes beyond that is the chorus and incitement. The well-organized chorus work on the official edition is completely a studio dub, and it can be seen that Coverdale’s “Hoo!!” and “Every Day Oh My Love!” shouted during the guitar solo were also added later. You could say I’m a perfectionist, or I’d say I’m meticulous… “Ain’t Gonna Cry No More” ★In the official version, the order of the songs was changed due to the analog recording, but this work is as it was recorded. Before this song, the official unreleased MC is recorded uncut. There aren’t many changes to this song, only the 3rd verse “Maybe someday I will understand” and the 4th verse which becomes freeform. It’s not particularly bad, but (of course) this work gives you a more natural live feeling. “Love Hunter (partially supplemented)” ★The MC introducing Mickey Moody is also not officially included. There are some minor changes to the vocals, but they are almost the same as the official version. The big difference here is Mickey’s solo. The solo that includes “Steal Away” is familiar even in the official version, but the leaked soundboard was cut off for about 3 minutes and 40 seconds. There was speculation that “Maybe it was a temporary editing tape to test the product composition” due to the cut that did not seem like a leaked sound board. Of course, this work supplements the solo that was deleted from the official version, and connects it to an ending that is different from the official one. It is finished in perfect shape. “Mistreated incl. Soldier Of Fortune” ★This is the core number of the show, but it is not officially included. However, this is a great performance that is very moving! It concentrates the charm of Classic Snake at its peak, and is probably one of the best takes in the entire history of WHITESNAKE. It is not hard to imagine that it was cut in consideration of “LIVE AT HAMMERSMITH”, but to cut such a wonderful performance. I’m really, really glad that the original soundboard leaked out…It’s a song that makes me think so from the bottom of my heart. ●Disc 2 “Nighthawk” “Jon Lord Solo” “Nighthawk/Belgian Tom’s Hat Trick” ★Following the last part of Disc 1, the first half of Disc 2 is also an unofficial part. “Nighthawk (Vampire Blues)” and “Belgian Tom’s Hat Trick” sandwich Jon Lord’s solo time of about 9 minutes. It is thrilling just to be able to listen to “Nighthawk”, which is the only soundboard take, but unfortunately it is missing from the last to Ian Paice’s solo. This cannot be supplemented from the official version, and there are no sound boards for other performances. It’s probably an eternal missing link that will never be connected. “Ain’t No Love In The Heart Of The City” ★This is another Coverdale song that was not included in the original LP. Although it has been added to the current remastered CD, this work can be enjoyed on the original leaked soundboard. This song also has some official supplements, but this is between songs. In the actual performance, the next song is “Fool For Your Loving”, but the leaked soundboard was “Take Me With You”. The ending of the hit song “Fool For Your Loving” was also the reason people asked if it was a temporary edit for commercial use. The cheering compensation here is to rearrange the songs in the correct order, so there are no gaps in the performance sound. “Fool For Your Loving” ★Very well-done, with a stable take on Coverdale’s song from beginning to end. It is used almost exactly as is in the official version. However, after the first verse, “I ain’t taking the blame,” he says “Come On!”, which is not in the official version, and the chorus is not fully extended, so it is clear that some parts were replaced. Masu. On the other hand, Barney’s guitar solo has been completely replaced. This is something completely different. “Take Me With You” ★The official version was about 6 minutes long, but this version is a complete take that is more than twice as long as 13 minutes, including member introductions and plenty of rock’n’roll covers. The live feel has improved significantly, and along with “Mistreated” and “Nighthawk”, it is the biggest listening point on the leaked sound board. “Ready An’ Willing (additional recording)” ★Although the leaked soundboard ends with the previous song, the next song “Ready An’ Willing” was also included in the official edition. Of course, this work is also recorded in its entirety from the official version, and the songs are recorded in the order of the concert. We have created the longest existing soundboard. This is a masterpiece completed by making full use of leaked soundboards and official works. Although the drum solo and encore “Lie Down” are not included, it is a two-disc set that can be enjoyed without missing the largest sound board in existence. The value of the Langley edition, which carves the truth of the leaked sound board, has not faded even now, but this work overwhelmingly exceeds the amount of repeated listening. It’s great as another version of a historical masterpiece, it’s interesting to speculate about the behind-the-scenes of the studio work, and it’s unprecedented to simply enjoy Classic Snake’s peak live performance. No matter how you listen to it, it’s a superb stereo soundboard album. Among the many WHITESNAKE bootlegs…no, even the official version is one of the best. This is a grand birth.
