This is a live recording of Weather Report from 1983. The sound quality is decent for an audience recording, and the early show, while not completely recorded, is the first recording and appeared at a high volume for a total of three hours. Although it has been significantly reduced, the hiss noise is a bit of a concern. The master had many problems, such as the songs being cut off or forcibly connected, and the chapter positions being strange, but all of these have been corrected during remastering. It’s nice that these parts have been properly “commercialized”. In terms of the album, 1983 was around the time of “Procession”, and the same members played almost all of the songs on the album. When you think of Weather, the first thing that comes to mind is Jaco Pastorius, but in this live performance, Victor Bailey played bass after Jaco left. The original Miroslav Vitous played acoustic bass, and Jaco played a lot of lead phrases, so the band’s sound was a bit light on its feet, which divided opinions. Alphonso Johnson and Victor Bailey have solid, black bass lines, and the drummer is Omar Hakim, who is known not only for his work in jazz fusion but also for his work on Sting’s Let’s Dance and David Bowie’s Let’s Dance.
