Description

The show in San Diego on March 2nd from the 1980 North American tour before the release of “NIGHT PASSAGE” while Jaco was still in the band was recorded over 1 hour and 29 minutes, with the latest digital remastering in 2025 on a good audience master that was recently unearthed. Although there are some cuts and it is not a full recording, the sound that was a little off has been significantly upgraded by the remastering process, and most of the album numbers recorded in a live format were played before the album was released, so it seems that the best takes were selected from such performances and included on the album. And although there are some changes in the arrangement and development from the album, the combination of the strongest rhythm section of Jaco and Peter Erskine is still wonderful, and Erskine’s drums, which powerfully beat the 4-beat songs among the numbers on the album, are particularly memorable. Jaco also delivered a series of amazing performances at full throttle, and the percussion of R. Thomas Jr., who accompanied the band on tour, added a touch of glamour to the band’s sound, recreating a night as the Weather’s golden age was coming to an end.
