Description

W.A.S.P.’s first visit to Japan will be a total of 5 performances. This work was recorded at the fourth performance, “October 22, 1984, Nakano Sun Plaza”. This recording was previously released under the title “L.O.V.E. REVOLUTION” on the HSD label, and this time we were provided with the original master, and we have given it the latest remaster. It has been 31 years since W.A.S.P.’s first performance in Japan, but this recording is still an extremely rare sound source that has only been unearthed. Although it is such a rare sound source, the sound quality is outstanding. They’re not a band that has a beautiful sound to begin with, so if you listen to them for a while, they’ll roar wildly, but this is exactly the sound that’s true to the scene. In fact, even though it sounds like an explosive sound, the contours of each instrument are never muddy or cracked, and even Blackie Lawless’s rough voice, which screams wildly, sounds ultra-realistic. If you remember the dustiness of MORTORHEAD, it might be easier to imagine it. Meanwhile, rather than being enthusiastic, the audience seemed to be overwhelmed by the band’s passionate performance. The cheers that can be heard after each song are more like “I can finally hear it” than “I’m erupting”. Of course, I can hear them screaming during the performance, but it’s drowned out by the thrash metal-like energy of the performance. The main press DVD “LIVE AT THE LYCEUM, LONDON” is a definitive masterpiece, but if I had to complain, it was covered in strangely loud cheers. I was wondering why they would do such a thing, but after listening to this work I was convinced. The sound of the band is so loud that you can’t hear the cheers unless you cover it. In Japan, the production was somewhat restrained due to a number of regulations, but there are still scenes recorded that the audience is very excited about, such as “Tormentor” where a Nikkatsu actress is brutally murdered, and “School Daze” where a large amount of blood is showered. In particular, on this day, they even performed a performance in which a female audience member was brought up on stage and handcuffed to a drum kit. Despite this, the band’s sound is so loud that you can’t hear the audience’s uproar. Again, there are no cracks or distortions caused by excessive input in this work. The scene sounded like this. Even in the audience recording, the band sound drowned out the cheers… What a tremendous live performance it was. This is a complete live commentary album that thoroughly captures the sounds of the scene, from the opening sound effects of THE DOORS to the merchandise sales announcement after the show. One & Only’s super masterpiece recording that captures the new hero of shock rock ravaging Japan in an ultra-clear and ultra-realistic way. Even if you’re not interested in W.A.S.P. at all, it’s worth listening to the powerful sound and immersing yourself in it at least once!
