Description
VIXEN first came to Japan in 1989 as a rising star in women’s HR/HM. This is a new excavation of the original vacuum-packed recording of the legendary scene, which will be released for the first time in the world. What was recorded on the original cassette was “March 2, 1989: Amagasaki Performance”. VIXEN is still active today after repeated member changes and reunions, but in their more than 30-year history, they have only visited Japan once in 1989, right after their debut. This work is a storyteller’s album that conveys such a valuable scene. First, let’s look back at the schedule at that time.・February 28th: Tokyo Welfare Pension Hall ・March 1st: Nagoya Port Hall ・March 2nd: Amashin Archaic Hall ←★This work★ All three performances. It is the only time he came to Japan to perform one performance each in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, which is valuable, but the Amagasaki performance of this work is especially the last day. To date, this is VIXEN’s last stage in Japan. This work recorded at such a memorial show is an audience recording that jumps over 30 years with a fresh sound. In fact, the recording feels a little distant from the vocals, but this is probably due to the on-site PA. This is because the three members other than the vocalist, the guitar, drums, and bass, have almost no sense of distance, the core is extremely thick, and the details are detailed. In particular, founder Jean Quenemund’s guitar has a direct feel that cuts through everything, and is so vivid that it feels like it’s playing right in front of you. Of course, all of this is a matter of distance and balance, and the vocals are not the type where you can’t tell what they’re singing from far away. The master cassette was given to us by the recording artist, so it is extremely fresh with no dubbing marks or twists, and the singing voice that pierces through the space is filled with a feeling of rain, and you will be mesmerized by Janet Gardner’s beautiful voice. With such beautiful sound, a show with dazzling momentum that has jumped out into the world. The set, which has many cover songs compared to later years, is full of early days, with only their debut album “VIXEN” released, and there are plenty of valuable numbers. Let’s organize this here. VIXEN (10 songs)・Charmed Life/Love Made Me/One Night Alone/Cruisin’/Cryin’/American Dream/Edge Of A Broken Heart/Hell Raisers/I Want You To Rock Me/Give It Away Others (5 songs)・Cover: Where Do You Draw the Line/Girls Got Rhythm/You Ought To Know By Now/Train Kept A Rollin’ ・Unreleased song: Big Brother…and so on. All songs from the first album except “Desperate” and “Waiting” are featured, and they even perform “Charmed Life”, “Give It Away”, which were bonus tracks on the CD, and “Big Brother”, which was unreleased at the time. The definitive album “ROCK CITY 1989” will also be released at the same time, but “One Night Alone”, “American Dream” and AC/DC’s cover “Girls Got Rhythm” are repertoires that cannot be heard there. And even more delicious than such a set is the on-site experience that comes from visiting Japan for the first time. Many of VIXEN’s fans are women, and they hear shouts of “Janet!” and “Rokishi!” all over the place. What’s more, the pronunciation is in hiragana (lol). You can feel the strong lingering scent of the 80’s Western music boom, and the reality of Live in Japan, which will never be seen again, approaches with a tactile sensation. There’s no guarantee that there won’t be a miraculous return to Japan since it’s still an active band, but even if it were to happen, founder Jean Quenemund had already passed away, and Janet Gardner had also left. “Those four” will never return. The last night of his one-time visit to Japan during his heyday. Live at Alchaic Hall, Amagasaki, Japan 2nd March 1989 TRULY AMAZING/PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters) (75:59) 1.
