Description

The legendary event “Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary Concert” also featured the reunited LED ZEPPELIN. The Japan Broadcast Pro Shot has been decided to be released. [Super quality Japanese broadcast version] Three years have passed since “LIVE AID”, which featured three guests on Phil Collins’ stage. With Jason Bonham on drums, this time they stepped on the reunion stage as “LED ZEPPELIN” on “May 14, 1988 in New York”. It was a 40th anniversary event for the prestigious record company Atlantic. It was a major festival format that brought together Atlantic artists, and the event was also broadcast on FM radio and television. It has produced many outstanding works. This work is not a live broadcast in the United States, but a Japanese version that was aired on a certain commercial station on June 30th, about a month after the event. At our store, we deliver a number of masterpiece programs by the best masters of domestic core record enthusiasts, and this work is one of them. This maniac continues to record with the latest high-end equipment, but the quality of this work is outstanding among his collection. It’s supposed to be a period analog recording, but I don’t think so. You can tell that it is a video recording in cut parts such as commercials, but the important live scene is super clear. There are no dubbing marks or tape deterioration, and it doesn’t look like it was digitally processed afterwards. This is the kind of visual beauty that comes from the official laser disc, and it is also extremely beautiful even to modern eyes accustomed to digital image quality. The broadcast itself was a long program lasting 4 and a half hours from 0:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m., but this work was edited into about 2 hours by the maniac who recorded it for himself. Although it is a digest, each song is recorded in its complete form. The selection is really suitable for our store (?), and it is a collection that really hits the key points, such as Phil Collins, FOREIGNER, CS&N, YES, Robert Plant, Vanilla Fudge, etc. [The reorganization of LED ZEPPELIN shows the remarkable evolution of Nippon Broadcasting System] Each of them is a must-see, but the biggest highlight is the reorganization of LED ZEPPELIN. Although it is a familiar video to enthusiasts, I do not remember the quality so far. Moreover, not only the performance scenes but also the talks in between are extremely valuable. This broadcast, like the “LIVE AID” we introduced the other day, includes studio scenes from the commercial station in between the performances. Although most of this work has been cut, only ZEP is recorded properly. And the content is also great. The personalities will be Satoshi Nagano, Ho Nakai, and Hajime Fukuda, who were announcers at the time. Mr. Fukuda seems to have experienced the event himself, and speaks passionately about the scene. “We were envied even in America,” “It started after 1 a.m., but wow! It was so exciting!” “The next day’s newspapers were all about ZEP,” conveying the excitement with real scenes from the scene. , “Kingdom Come, which is chasing them, was successful, but people were saying, “What’s wrong with the main family!”” could only have happened in 1988. What was surprising were the two female announcers who responded to Mr. Fukuda’s comments. When it comes to Japanese music programs, the default is to make idiotic comments that misunderstand the general public, but this program is different. “When Page got the double-neck guitar, I was like, ‘Oh, here we come! ” (Nagano) “Just thinking that the band that we thought we could only hear on records was actually performing… (Nakai)” was accurate. It’s not smooth at all. Then, he said, “Phil Collins was the drummer at LIVE AID, so this time… (Nagano),” and “My son Jason! He’s playing as hard as he can. Fukuda)” he replied. The over-produced conversation sounds like a script, and I feel like it’s too much to go all out and say with regret, “I wanted to be there! (Nagano),” but, “(Although it’s harsh to compare it to a live broadcast)” It’s amazing how far Japanese music programs have evolved in just five years since “LIVE AID.” Furthermore, what really makes me feel “1988” is Page’s announcement of “OUTRIDER”. Not only does Mr. Fukuda comment, “My solo album will be released soon. It came out on June 8th (actually the 19th). Japan will be a little delayed,” and a commercial will also be played. There, a familiar voice from Best Hits USA announced, “CDs cost 3,200 yen, 2,500 yen, LPs and cassettes cost 2,300 yen,” and he said, “Well, to be honest, I’m happy too!” Not only the pricing, but also the sense of the times when cassettes are commonplace on public airwaves is dazzling. ZEP alone made it quite long, but there are plenty of other highlights in this work. In addition to the big names mentioned above, there was also GENESIS, who played Phil Collins’ “You Can’t Hurry Love,” Deborah Gibson, who rose to become the darling of the times, and conversely, STACEY Q, NU SHOOZ, and Keith, who were the darlings of the times.・Emerson’s THREE, etc., stages that are unique to that time pop out one after another. The show ends with the gift announcement, but you can’t miss this work until the very end. There is a glimpse of the beginning of the next episode, and it is the Friday variety show “M.TASHIRO IN.” That’s right, that person who is now excited after being arrested for the fifth time… It’s already a piece that exudes “1988” from every corner. Including all the reorganized LED ZEPPELIN songs, valuable studio talks and performances by big names… This is a video work that allows you to enjoy the historic “Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary Concert” in ultra-high quality. Although it cannot be expected to have the same sense of simultaneous progress as the extremely popular “Complete Edition LIVE AID”, it is a masterpiece that surpasses the quality and richness of the highlights.
