Description
“THE PRINCE’S TRUST CONCERT” is a charity event hosted by Prince Charles. The official video of the out-of-print 1988 edition, which is famous for the full participation of Eric Clapton, has been decided to be released. “THE PRINCE’S TRUST” is a charity organization that was established in 1976 and continues to this day. Although he is known for a wide range of activities, music fans will be familiar with the charity concerts he occasionally holds, mainly in the 1980s. It was held every year, especially from 1985 to 1990, and many heavyweights of British rock have also collaborated. This work includes the 1988 charity concert, when Prince Charles turned 40. This is a multi-camera professional shot taken at “Royal Albert Hall on June 6th”. This video was originally released on VHS, but due to the fate of 80’s video, it was quickly discontinued. Eleven years later, in 1999, an expanded version with three additional songs was released on DVD, but it was only on sale for a short period of time, and used copies are now sold at premium prices. This work is a detailed reprint from the Japanese version, which boasts the highest quality. It is the longest with 14 songs, and the interview is fully equipped with Japanese subtitles. Of course, the image quality and sound quality are completely official grade, and the ultimate quality is different from that of a video recording. The beautiful visuals depict the gorgeous co-starring of the heroes who inspired the rock scene of the 1980s. There are a wide variety of performers, but they can be roughly divided into three types. One is sung by stars backed by a band led by Midge Ure. The second band was led by Eric Clapton. The third category is other solo appearances. Let’s organize the contents here. MIDGE URE ALL STAR BAND (5 songs) ・Sledgehammer (Peter Gabriel) / Never Gonna Give You Up (★: Rick Astley) / You Can’t Hurry Love (Phil Collins) / The Letter (Joe Cocker) / You Win Again (BEE GEES) ERIC CLAPTON’S ALL STAR BAND (5 songs) / Money For Nothing (Mark Knopfler) / I Don’t Wanna Go On With You Like That (Elton John) / Behind The Mask / Layla / With A Little Help From My Friends (All Star) Others (3 songs) Sweet Little Mystery (★: WET WET WET) / Tower Of Song (★: Leonard Cohen) / Heart And Soul (★: T’PAU) *Note: Songs marked with a “★” cannot be heard even in the long soundboard version of Wolfgang Vault. …and it looks like this. This work is not a complete recording of the event, but has been edited as an official work. There are 5 songs each in the Midge version and Clapton version, and 3 songs by WET WET WET, Leonard Cohen, and T’PAU that were not on the early VHS have been added. In addition to this work, there is another important work in this show. It is a long soundboard recording excavated from Wolfgang Vault in 2013. There were some songs that could not be heard in this work, such as Clapton’s “Cocaine”, but conversely, this work also includes 4 songs that were not in the sound board version. The charity boom that swept the rock scene in the 1980s. This is an official video that allows you to witness “THE PRINCE’S TRUST CONCERT” in 1988, which was realized at the end of that period and had a dazzling lineup that could be called the ultimate. The scene where today’s most exciting heroes share the stage, with 27-year-old Princess Diana looking on. The 1980s was also the era when popular culture flourished the most in human history, and this work is a piece wrapped in that brilliance.
