Description
The latest in the popular “Golden Western Music Live” reprint series. This is a special feature on “THE SECRET POLICEMAN’S BALL,” a charity event in which many of the biggest names in the rock world appear. “THE SECRET POLICEMAN’S BALL” is an event held to raise funds for the human rights organization Amnesty International, and was held irregularly from 1976 to 2012. The scene has also been made into an official video work, but this work is a broadcast version from a certain broadcasting station’s popular program “Golden Western Music Live”. This is the program’s own version, which also includes the program’s own commentary corner and Japanese captions. Our store has been delivering “Golden Western Music Live” featuring various artists/bands, and this is the latest installment. Using the same top-quality masters by enthusiasts as before, you can enjoy a variety of valuable performances with completely official quality. This time’s “THE SECRET POLICEMAN’S BALL special feature” consists of two main parts. In the first half, seven songs from 1987’s “The SECRET POLICEMAN’S THIRD BALL” are broadcast intensively, and in the second half, several highlight videos from the three episodes of 1979/1981/1991 are recorded. Let’s organize the bands/artists who will be performing here. ●First half of the program: 1987 (6 groups) ERASURE, DURAN DURAN, David Gilmore & Kate Bush, Lou Reed, Chet Atkins & Mark Knopfler, Peter Gabriel ●2nd half of the program 1979 (2 groups, 3 groups) Songs): Phil Collins, Pete Townshend ・1981 (3 sets, 4 songs): Sting, Bob Geldof, Eric Clapton & Jeff Beck ・1991 (6 sets): Tom Jones, Lisa Stansfield , SPINAL TAP, Seal, Daryl Hall, Morrissey… and so on. The main 1987 edition starts brilliantly with ERASURE, which has just started, DURAN DURAN from the NOTORIOUS era, Kate Bush whose live performance itself is precious, Atkins & Knopfler playing “Imagine” with only two acoustic guitars, and “SO” ” Peter Gabriel, who was all the rage in the world. Gorgeous members will appear one after another and give special performances. The second half consists of videos for each song randomly, rather than in chronological order. Therefore, it goes back and forth for about 10 years, but its gorgeousness reminds me of “LIVE AID”. Dave Gilmore is playing the guitar in the back of Tom Jones, and you can enjoy the extremely exciting twin guitars of Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton in the best professional shots. To be honest, I thought it would be hard to see the structure that goes back and forth between eras over a 10-year period, but what makes me happy is the Japanese captions. Each song includes the program’s unique artist introduction and song explanation, making it very easy to understand. Speaking of the program’s unique features, the commentary scenes sandwiched between live scenes are also a highlight. This program invites celebrities to explain the content, and the guide for this episode is Mr. Tsuchiya. He is not only a contemporary musician, but is also so involved in British rock that he formed ARCADIA with Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, and Roger Taylor in the mid-80s, and moved to the UK in the 90s. person. That’s why the local episodes are so interesting. For example, the story behind the recording of ARCADIA. When he said, “I want a guitar that makes a whooshing sound,” he said, “When I say whistling, it’s PINK FLOYD,” so I called Gilmore. The next day, he came to the studio and put the guitar in. It’s not like I can understand the onomatopoeia “Hyuuhyuu”, but no matter how much he looks like FLOYD, it’s hard to imagine him suddenly appearing… Furthermore, when he said, “This chorus is too high. Is there anyone who can sing it high?”, Sting came and sang. Mr. Tsuchiya says, “It was like a dream,” and it really gives us a glimpse of the experience of British rock music. Also, the episode about Jeff Beck was surprising. It appears that Mr. Tsuchiya and Jeff shared the same rehearsal studio, and the testimony states, “Perhaps he didn’t have any friends, so he was always having sessions just the two of him with Cozy Powell.” I don’t know exactly what year it was, but whether it was in the mid-80s during the ARCADIA era or in the 90s after moving to London, Jeff and Cozy teamed up again… Not only is it surprising, but it also gives a realistic feel to the British scene. The “Golden Western Music Live” series features many masterpiece videos. Among them, it is a masterpiece pro shot where you can fully enjoy the luxurious stage unique to charity events. This is a must-see for its commentary that captures the reality of the British scene.
