Description
“THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT CELEBRATION” was held in 1992 to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Bob Dylan’s record debut. Introducing a 3-disc set that compiles the two Japanese broadcast versions in the highest quality. George Harrison, Neil Young, Eric Clapton, Stevie Wonder, Johnny Cash, Johnny Cash, Lou Reed, etc… This is a special performance in which an endless number of big names appear one after another, singing Dylan’s famous songs. This legendary tribute concert was held at Madison Square Garden on October 16, 1992. The pattern was also released as an official work, and many people may have seen it in some form. This work is also a multi-camera professional shot that conveys such a legendary event, but it is different from the official work. This is the Japan Broadcasting version released by a certain broadcasting association. Moreover, there are two types of Japanese broadcasts included in this work. A real-time broadcast in 1992 when the show was held, and a version that was digitally broadcast in 2014. Each is fully recorded. Moreover, these two types are not just rebroadcasts, but completely different versions with different songs, different edits, and cuts. Of course, it is different from the current official DVD/BD. Now, let’s introduce each one individually. [DISC 1-2: Original broadcast version from 1992] The highest peak master of the complete version that surpasses the official version. The first thing that will appear is the original broadcast version from 1992 when the concert was held (it is not a live broadcast, but from the actual It was broadcast soon in October 1992). This broadcast was a high-definition broadcast that was still in the experimental stage. At that time, it was a cutting-edge broadcast with a limited number of people who could watch it, but we borrowed the original master from a domestic recording enthusiast who was recording in high-definition quality. Digitized with the highest quality. The quality is top notch. In modern times, it has been officially converted into DVD/BD, and although it is not as good in terms of pure image quality, the important thing is that it is “a completely different thing.” First, the lengths are completely different. Although the current DVD/BD version has one more song than the first VHS version, it is still not a full show. Six songs were cut (John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat”, George Thoragood’s “Wanted Man”, Sophie B. Hawkins’ “I Want You”, Tracy Chapman’s “The Times”) They Are A-Changin’, George Harrison’s “If Not For You,” and Dylan’s “Song To Woody”), but this is the complete version that includes them (by the way, Sinead O’Connor’s Although “War” was cut from the first VHS release, it has been added to the current DVD/BD). Moreover, not only are they longer, but the angles used for the same performance part are completely different. It is not uncommon for the angles to be different between the broadcast version and the commercial version, but it is unusual for them to be this different. Normally, there would be a few cuts that I have never seen before, but this work has a few of the same cuts. The more familiar you are with the current DVD/BD, the more you’ll be left wondering, “What is this?!” This is where the “high-definition image quality” that I mentioned earlier comes into play. You can see a completely different scene from the current version in the highest image quality ever… No matter how high the quality of the official Blu-ray version is, it is a cultural heritage on a different level. Numerous productions unique to the talkative program What makes the original broadcast even more special is the production unique to the program. The so-called “commentary corner” and “Japanese subtitles” are standard, but the content is not standard. Both are talkative. E○ji Ogura will be the facilitator for the commentary corner. Mr. Ko○, who also went to the show site, created a flip of the gorgeous performers and talked deeply about each artist’s background, connection with Dylan, and the highlights of the performance. It’s a passionate speech that makes you want to say, “If I tell you everything, I don’t need to watch it anymore.” Even with Japanese subtitles and captions, his talkative behavior remains the same. For each song, I include not only the title of the song, but also the artist who sings it and an explanation of the song. Sinead O’Connor is the one whose power explodes. She was introduced by host Kris Kristofferson as “now synonymous with courage and integrity,” and was booed loudly throughout the venue. Initially, she was scheduled to sing a Dylan song, but she suddenly stopped the performance and sang Bob Marley’s “War” a cappella. The scene where she breaks down in tears as she leaves the venue is also a highlight of this event. This is a scene that has subtitles on current DVDs/BDs, but this broadcast will also explain the background in detail. Why is she a symbol? Why was she booed? Why is she called “War”? Both O’Connor and Kristofferson looked depressed but determined, and each word was filled with determination. The lyrics of “War” and Kristofferson’s “Don’t worry about it” can convey the mood, but the Japanese subtitles explain the deeper background. What’s more, the scene where she breaks down in tears and is hugged by Kristofferson as she leaves the stadium is a must-see. This is also captured in a close-up that is different from the current DVD/BD, and her feelings are conveyed even more vividly. It is a famous scene among famous scenes that can only be seen in the original broadcast version. [DISC 3: 2014 digital broadcast version] Next up is “Another Japanese Broadcasting”. This version was broadcast in 2014, 22 years after the original broadcast. Speaking of 2014, it was officially released on DVD/BD in March. This broadcast was broadcast in two parts, three months later on June 3 and 10, 2014. Therefore, the content conforms to the official version. The screen size is now 16:9, and the image quality has also been significantly improved. However, this is also not the same as the official version. The first thing to notice is the length. Although it was shorter than the original broadcast, George Harrison’s “If Not For You” and Dylan’s “Song To Woody”, which were not included in the official version, were also broadcast. Furthermore, the unique commentary corner and Japanese subtitles are also different from the original broadcast. The facilitator here is Mr. Miura Jin○. Unlike Mr. ○Kura in the original broadcast, he only talks briefly from a fan’s perspective (his commentary is short in the first place), but he is also one of the Japanese people who went to the concert site. The words I hear are so real because I have experience in the field. And the subtitles are also different. In fact, the song explanations are much lighter than the original broadcast, but a large amount of lyrics subtitles have been added instead. It is also a broadcast featuring Dylan’s “words”. Originally, it was April 2020, when I should have been excited about the day-to-day performances in Japan. Due to a twist of fate, this did not come true, but this is the perfect book to soothe your frustration and frustration. Songs you can’t hear on the official DVD/BD, angles you can’t see, commentary and Japanese subtitles that expand Dylan’s world… This is a masterpiece that will entertain you by delving deeply into historical concerts. A blockbuster that lasts a total of 6 hours, 29 minutes, and 30 seconds. Live at Madison Square Garden, New York City, NY.
