Description

We use the highest quality master tape made by New Taper, which is not available even among traders. (By the way, the Thin Lizzy Tokyo performance released at the same time was also recorded by the same person. This taper is really amazing!!) I wonder if the recording position was good, the equipment was good, or maybe both… I was surprised to be able to record at Budokan in 1979 with such a clear and direct sound, and I just listened in amazement. The musical sounds are recorded to a surprising degree, and although you can definitely hear cheers between songs, during the performance you can only hear faint clapping in the distance, and you can hardly hear the cheers. This is a completely different sound source. The closeness of this musical sound and the contrasting distance of the cheers make it difficult to judge whether they were recording at the very front of the first floor or at the very front (Improvisation on track 8). ) is the perfect part for sound image analysis. If you were on the first floor, the sound would wrap around you a little more and give you a sense of distance, but it’s strange that this isn’t actually the case. In any case, I have been listening to various tapes for a long time, but I have never found a recording as good as this one, and in that sense, it is a must-see for not only Van Halen fans but also fans of Western music from the time. This is a truly wonderful live recording that you should listen to! Approximately 1 year and 3 months have passed since their first visit to Japan last year, and the band has continued to delight listeners with an even bigger and more varied show. Van Halen’s Japanese performance sound source in the 1970s has many excellent recording takes at each venue from their first visit to Japan in 1978, but in contrast, the take from their second visit to Japan is of course not only at the Budokan performance but also at other venues. There is no sound source that says “This!”, and this is the first time it has appeared, and there is no doubt that it will be a representative piece of the second performance in Japan. In addition, a bonus disc “PASADENA ON FIRE 1977” is included, which includes the rehearsal and live performance of the Pasadena performance on October 15, 1977, recorded in the highest official grade ultra-high quality stereo soundboard recording ever.
