Description

“This is “THE LIVE ALBUM”.” These are the words that an overseas sound source enthusiast gave to this recording. In other words, even if there are as many rock concert recordings as grains of sand in the desert or as many stars as there are, the meaning behind this is that “this is the pinnacle!” One of the symbols that shines in the history of live recording, comparable even to LED ZEPPELIN’s “LISTEN TO THIS EDDIE”, has been revived with a modern remaster. The live performance contained in this work is that of VAN HALEN. This is an audience recording that recorded the “June 22, 1978 Nakano Sun Plaza Performance” from its first visit to Japan. This is a classic that has been around for a long time as part of “ATOMIC PUNK” and “ERUPTION IN TOKYO,” but the original cassette was given to us by the person who recorded it, and “TOKYO’S ON FIRE” was released as the memorable first release. It was. This title, which sold out in an instant, was a powerful piece that could be said to be the “pinnacle of concert recording” and “the symbol of a live album.” This work has been re-digitized and remastered from that cassette. Of course, we did not do anything outrageous such as destroying the magnificent original sound with flashy equalization, and the balance and texture remained the same as the original sound that the cassette inhaled. We did not remove even the slightest tape hiss, and simply adjusted the sound pressure to find the best match for modern audio environments. The sound of this work, which symbolizes not only the band VAN HALEN but even the entire rock live album, is absolutely perfect. There are many “audience recordings like soundboards”, but this work is perfectly arranged like an official album, and is also full of the reality unique to audience recording. Its powerful and raw sound is comparable to the “flame fuse” that revolutionized the world. Even with today’s equipment, it is impossible to record sounds like this. This taper is a master among masters who has produced one after another of extremely high-quality sound records such as Eric Clapton’s “British Pride,” Jeff Beck’s “Moving Finger,” the Rolling Stones’ “Dome On Wheels,” etc. However, it can be said that his work is a masterpiece. It is a completely miraculous recording that can only be thought of as “the goddess of recording smiled”. VAN HALEN’s first visit to Japan, sealed with such a miraculous sound, is as amazing as the “smile of the goddess”. Their debut album “Flame no Tuse” caused a sensation all over the world, and they should have already reached the platinum album status, but they didn’t realize how amazing that was. There was no feeling of anything big after that, and he just ran through it with abandon. The passion that ignited an up-and-coming club band and released it into the world is now vacuum-packed. I think it would be pointless to explain the greatness of “Flame Fuse” song by song, but the same goes for the performance of this work. It’s a swirl of intense rock that makes you think, “These guys have it.” Even VAN HALEN himself could never reproduce the fiery sound of “Flame Fuse”. This work is also the same. There are hundreds of tapers who recorded VAN HALEN at that time, but the sound is unique, and even if this taper continues to record throughout his life, there will be no second one. The passion of a band that burst out into the world with world-class ability and innocence, the enthusiasm of the audience that was directly exposed to it, and the sound. It’s a miracle of a live recording where everything is so beautiful that it’s disgusting. The album ends with an excited voice saying, “It’s a new song, it’s not on the album!” while being overwhelmed by the last song, “Bottoms Up.” Although the quality is comparable to the official one, it is a document that cannot be achieved with any line recording. “THE LIVE ALBUM” is a collection of live recordings of all sorts of rock music. It’s a magnificent comeback. Live at Nakano Sunplaza, Tokyo, Japan 22nd June 1978 TRULY PERFECT/ULTIMATE SOUND(from Original Masters) (72:45) 1. Intro. 2. On Fire 3. I’m The One 4. Bass Solo 5.
