Description
From the 1981 US tour accompanying “Fair Warning”, it includes three high-quality audience recordings that have recently appeared via the Internet. First of all, the surprise is the Providence performance on May 15th, the second day of the tour following the Canadian performance recorded on Discs 1 & 2, and it is recorded with the highest quality of attention for the 1981 tour, which has few high-quality sound sources. Dave also excited the audience, saying, “Today is the first show of the tour in America!” As it is the beginning of the tour, the band is in high spirits and you can enjoy the best live performance full of momentum. Of course, Eddie’s transcendental solo is also clearly recorded. In the second half of the show, following the 7-minute Eruption, they performed the extremely rare cover Lucile. Eddie’s solo in the song is also very powerful and well played, making it a great listen. You Really Got Me will be played immediately after this, but it is a must-hear part because this format of live is rare. The guitar, drum bass, and musical sounds are recorded with a thick, powerful sound that is surprisingly direct and clear, making it a perfect listen. The August 2nd Cleveland show recorded on Disc 3 is recorded from the second song, Sinner’s Swing! (On Fire is not included). Although Runnin’ With The Devil is missing the first half, the sound quality is excellent, the sound image is more direct than Providence, and you can enjoy 70 minutes of listening satisfaction. The second half of the day was Eruption~Feel Your Love Tonight, and You Really Got Me. The powerful bottom sound is the best, and you can enjoy the splendor of Van Halen’s live performance at this time with the ideal sound image. Only the October 7th El Paso performance recorded on Discs 4 & 5 has a distance in sound and is a little unclear compared to the two performances above, but the sound image itself is stable and the vocals are easy to listen to. The intro includes an interview with Alex on KLAQ FM radio, which adds to the atmosphere. On this day, Summertime Blues is being played in the middle. There are a few disappointing cuts in the song, but the drums are clearly recorded, so the sound is crisp and you can listen to the live performance without stress. From the “Fair Warning” tour, the definitive 5-disc title is now available.
