Description
In 1995, VAN HALEN released their last masterpiece with Sammy Hagar, “BALANCE,” and were walking toward the end of their golden era. Two live albums that update the highest peak of the classic soundboard album will be released at the same time. This work, which is the second release at the same time, is engraved with “Milan performance on January 30, 1995.” This is a stereo soundboard recording. These two titles are not part of the world tour, but are promotional gigs accompanying the release of the album “BALANCE”. Here again, let’s take a look back at an overview of our activities in 1995, which marked the end of the Golden Age. [“BALANCE” released on January 24th]・January 27th + 31st: Promotion (2 performances)←★Here★・March 11th – May 15th: North America #1 (37 performances)・May 24th – June 30th: Europe (25 performances) July 15th – October 15th: North America #2 (60 performances) October 25th – November 5th: Japan/Hawaii (9 performances) This is 1995 VAN HALEN. Normally, my main battlefield is North America, but this time I went to Europe for the release of the album. We held two promo gigs in Europe. “ARNHEM 1995” released at the same time and this work are sister works born from such two performances. Both of these two days will be broadcast on TV/radio. This work is a piece that updates the highest peak of the FM sound board of the Milan performance. In fact, the quality of this work is amazing. It was supervised by the same core enthusiasts as “ARNHEM 1995”, and after all, the best masters were carefully selected and mastered precisely. However, even though the possibility of the original sound is pursued to the utmost limit, it is a different sound source from a different performance. After all, their personalities are slightly different. “ARNHEM 1995” was characterized by a well-organized sound that felt like an official work, but this work has a rough and direct feel that is attractive. It’s a type that connects directly to the mix table, and while it’s rough, the performance is close to your ears…no, it’s tingling in your head. Sammy is the MC and says, “It’s been 10 years since I played at such a small club!”, but the close feeling of this work is not that, it feels like there are 4 people in my head completely. The loud cheers were far away, and there was no realism in the venue due to the somewhat violent liveliness, but the sense of synchronization with the band itself was unparalleled. What is depicted with such a perfect match sound is a show different from the main part of the world tour. Speaking of the classic “BALANCE TOUR”, the full pro shot “RIGHT BALANCE: TORONTO 1995” is popular at our store, so let’s compare and organize them. Balance (4 songs)・The Seventh Seal (★)/Don’t Tell Me (What Love Can Do)/Amsterdam/Feelin’ Others (4 songs)・Dave era: Panama/Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love (★ )・Sammy era; Judgment Day (★) / Best Of Both Worlds (★) *Note: Songs marked with “★” are not available in the pro shot “RIGHT BALANCE: TORONTO 1995”. …and it looks like this. What I’m really happy about is the “BALANCE” number, which makes up half of the numbers. After all, the song “BALANCE” was not played at all after Sammy left, and “The Seventh Seal” was only featured in a few performances on the temporary comeback tour in 2004. Most of them are valuable songs only for this tour. Moreover, the performance itself of this work is very good. If you look closely, there is one less song “Top of the World” than the simultaneously released sister work “ARNHEM 1995”, but Sammy’s condition is clearly better in this work. Perhaps because he has improved his condition over the past few days, the songs that seemed to be difficult at the Arnhem performance did not stagnate in Milan, and the highs were well extended and in great condition. The new songs don’t make you nervous, and let you listen to their original charm. This work approaches “ARNHEM 1995″, which has the preciousness of the premiere and the super-excellent sound that can be passed even as an official product, and the direct connection and excellent vocalization that cannot be found in the official version. This is the highest peak update of a soundboard album that is second to none. A treasure from the “BALANCE” era that marks the end of the Sammy era, where he held the No. 1 title in the United States for 10 years.
