Description

The “Starwood” performance was for three consecutive days, and the sound board recording was left in Chunichi. On the final day, which was the next day, a record was left while recording the audience. What is inscribed in this work is “June 30, 1976 Starwood Performance”. This is an audience recording of the scene vacuum packed. However, “audience” in this case simply means “microphone recording.” What I mean by this is that this work was recorded by someone who was part of the band’s crew at the time, and he digitized the original tape and gave it to a friend as a gift. In other words, it is a record left by the band, and it is not an audience recording or a hidden recording. In fact, that process is reflected in the sound. The fact that the staff is recording means that they can occupy the area where the band’s sound is best on set, and there is no possibility that the sound will be muffled by hiding the microphones. Although the nuances are different from the close-contact feeling that is unique to a line connection, there is no distance in the feeling of a closed room in a club, and every single note is thick and thick. It should be said that it is a “professional audience” so to speak, which has a different dimension from the sound that is imagined by the word “audience recording”. What is depicted with such powerful sound is a full show that exceeds SBDCD. As mentioned in the commentary, the sound board is incompletely recorded with some parts missing. In contrast, this work captures the entire view of the show. To summarize the contents… Officially recorded songs: Flame Fuse (3 songs) Show Your Love (original song of I’m The One) / Runnin’ With The Devil / Ice Cream Man / Legendary Bomber (2 songs) Somebody Get Me A Doctor/D.O.A.・Dark Law (2 songs) In A Simple Rhyme/Fools・1984 (1 song) House Of Pain・A Different Kind of Truth (2 songs) ) Let’s Get Rockin’ (Original song by Outta Space: ★) / She’s The Woman Other unreleased songs (4 songs) Babe, Don’t Leave Me Alone / Believe Me / Honolulu Baby / Eyes Of The Night cover (1) Song) Let Me Swim CACTUS *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on the CD “STARWOOD 1976”. …and it looks like this. It was recorded before the performance started, and the moment when the DJ introduces the band and bursts into “Show Your Love (original song of I’m The One)” is perfect. The following “Somebody Get Me A Doctor” is also recorded neatly from the beginning. What’s more, the DJ who calls during this opening part is also a highlight. This person is actually Rodney Bingenheimer, a DJ at Los Angeles rock FM station KROQ. Known for his efforts in discovering new bands, he introduced various talents to the world such as BLONDIE, RAMONES, SEX PISTOLS, GUNS N’ ROSES, DURAN DURAN, NIRVANA, etc. VAN HALEN was also a new band brought out by Rodney. This work is a sonic witness to such an era. It is a masterpiece of staff recording that allows you to enjoy the young stage on a longer length the day after the SBDCD. The rare songs from the club era that can’t be heard in the official works are delicious, but even more impressive is the dynamism that allows you to experience the time and place where the legend literally started moving.
