Description

Mike Millard’s master excavation project continues to discover hidden treasures in 2022. The latest edition, the U.K. edition, is here. This work is recorded from the “Long Beach performance on November 14, 1979”. It is a super-class audience recording. Speaking of the U.K. in 1979, the legendary performance in Japan and “NIGHT AFTER NIGHT” are memorable, and in recent years, “1979 FINAL CONCERT” was also included in the official box. In order to organize the situation around that, let’s start by unraveling the schedule at that time.・February 11: Paris performance 《March “DANGER MONEY” released》・March 3-13: Europe #1 (3 performances)・March 21-May 5: North America #1 (22 performances)・May 15: London performance・May 29-June 4: Japan (5 performances)←※NIGHT AFTER NIGHT《September “NIGHT AFTER NIGHT” released》・October 5-November 18: North America #2 (25 performances)←★Here★・December 1-17: Europe #2 (9 performances)←※1979 FINAL CONCERT《U.K. disbanded》This is the U.K. in 1979. They ran through a year with a trio formation with Terry Posio, but the Long Beach performance of this work is the end of that. It is the 23rd performance of “North America #2”. This day is JETHRO They were also the opening act for TULL, and Millard was there to see the main act. Normally Millard doesn’t record opening bands, but U.K. was in a class of their own, so he let them play the tape. What’s more, the sound was “super” superb. You might think it’s normal for it to be superb because it’s a Millard recording, but it’s superb even by Millard’s standards. There’s no sense of distance, and the strength of the on-core, the fine detail, the crisp stability, the beautifully separated stereo feeling… everything is superb. The unique Wetton vibes are there, and the sound is superb. Everything is beautiful, from the crisp bass sound, Jobson’s dancing violin, to Posio’s drumming that gives a sense of geometric beauty. As some of you may have noticed from the title, this work is actually not Millard’s original master, but the first generation that he gave to a friend. Despite this, it is a transcendent sound that is unquestionably “completely official class”. So what kind of songs can we listen to and how much is missing? Let’s organize it by comparing it with the full set on the day. Studio productions: Four Patriots: Alaska (×) / Presto Vivace (×) / In the Dead Of Night Danger Money: Rendezvous 6:02 / The Only Thing She Needs Others: Night After Night: As Long as You Want Me Here (×) / Night After Night Others: Nostalgia / Waiting For You *Note: The “×” marks are songs from the beginning that were not recorded. …And so it is. Was Millard able to enter the venue on the day, or was U.K.’s performance so amazing that they decided to record it at short notice? Anyway, three songs were not recorded from the beginning of the show, and the recording of “In the Dead Of Night” was only about one minute long. However, even in such a situation, the delicious parts such as “Nostalgia” and the unreleased song “Waiting For You” that will be recorded in Eddie Jobson’s “THE GREEN ALBUM” are firmly held. In particular, “Waiting For You” is a rare song that could not be heard even in the official box “ULTIMATE COLLECTOR’S EDITION”, and you can enjoy it with a completely official sound. It is a treasured album of the UK left by the absolute master Mike Millard. It is a pity that it is incomplete again and again, but even if you push it, the transcendent sound that can not help but be introduced is intense, and the rare songs are delicious. A superb audience recording of “Long Beach performance on November 14, 1979”. The sound by the 1st generation master Millard is superb, with the strength of the core at zero distance, the fineness of the details, the sense of stability, and the beautifully separated stereo feeling. Unfortunately, the first three songs were not recorded, but the precious “Nostalgia” and “Waiting For You” are also treasured albums that can be enjoyed with completely official sound. Long Beach Arena, Long Beach, CA, USA 14th November 1979 ULTIMATE SOUND ★ Miraculous super high sound quality. 01. In the Dead Of Night 02. Nostalgia 03. Rendezvous 6:02 04. Night After Night 05.
