The 1998 Japan tour, which was the last one for UFO when Michael Schenker was still in the band, was canceled midway due to Michael’s insanity. The live performance at Osaka IMP Hall on April 21st, the first day of the tour, was recorded in a 93-minute complete with good audience quality. First, there was no second encore at the Nagoya performance the following day, and at the end of the seventh song at the first performance in Tokyo, Michael slammed his guitar and the performance was canceled. All subsequent dates were eventually canceled, and Michael left UFO. Therefore, this was Michael’s last performance at UFO, and as it was his last performance in Japan, it is interesting for fans. The set was similar to the first visit of “Michael + UFO” to Japan in 1994, and in addition to the Japan premiere of “A Self-Made Man,” “Venus,” and “Pushed To The Limit” from “WALK ON WATER,” which had not yet been released at the time, they also performed “Electric Phase” from “LIGHTS OUT” and “One More For The Rodeo” from “OBSESSION.” In particular, the guitar solo in “Electric Phase,” where the world suddenly changes, the full-blown Michael style in “One More For The Rodeo,” and the dramatic “Venus,” where the melancholy guitar heats up, are the best quality performances of Michael + UFO’s last masterpieces.
