Description
Pete Way passed away on August 14, 2020. Pete was the founder of UFO and the greatest bass hero of British hard rock. After leaving UFO in 2008, he wrote his autobiography and worked at his own pace with PETE WAY BAND. We toured the UK last year as well, but in June 2020 we had a life-or-death serious accident (details have not been disclosed). The injuries he sustained at that time ended his 69-year life. Only a few days have passed since the news of his death, and the rock world is currently in the midst of sadness. This work is a live album suitable for remembering Pete from those days and remembering him. This is a superb stereo soundboard recording of “December 16, 1993 Frankfurt Performance”. I couldn’t help but mention Pete because of this timing, but from the perspective of the entire history of UFO, this work is one of the special ones. UFO at that time had reunited with Michael Schenker for the first time since 1978, but the Frankfurt performance of this work is the first day. It is a live album where you can experience the one and only show on the sound board, where the golden lineup stood on stage for the first time in 15 years. Moreover, the quality is top notch. Although it is vivid with howling occurring in several places, the sound quality itself and mix are completely official. In fact, according to the standards of UFO, which has many excavated items, it is a superb sound board that can be said to be “more than official”. What is depicted with such a sound is a “continuation of the legend” that has started for the first time in 15 years. Speaking of the stage after the reorganization, the official live work “LIVE ON EARTH” is representative, so let’s organize the sets while comparing them here.・Phenomenon: Doctor Doctor/Rock Bottom・Force It: Mother Mary/Let It Roll (★)/Out In The Street/This Kids/Shoot Shoot・No Heavy Petting: Natural Thing・New Murderous Intent: Too Hot To Handle/Love To Love/Lights Out・Space Conquest: Only You Can Rock Me/Hot ‘N’ Ready (★)・Thank You: Open and Willing (★)/Positive Forward (★) *Note: “★” marks are official A song that cannot be heard on the “LIVE ON EARTH” album. …and it looks like this. “LIVE ON EARTH” also included the number “WALK ON WATER”, but this work is the first step of a reunion. Highly pure 70’s repertoire was presented at once, and except for Michael’s solo corner in the middle (“Open and Willing” and “Positive Forward” from the acoustic guitar version “THANK YOU”), there was only golden 70’s repertoire. Most of them are standard ones that will be played after that, but the ones that stand out are “Let It Roll” and “Hot ‘N’ Ready”. Both are rare songs that were rarely played on subsequent tours and were not included in the official live album. You can enjoy it with the finest stereo sound board. Furthermore, the performance that plays such a set is wonderful. After all, the most important thing is the drums. Simon Wright was playing the drums on the official live albums “WEREWOLVES OF LONDON” and “LIVE ON EARTH,” but Andy Parker is sitting on the stool in this work. The “golden five” are truly there, and there are plenty of grooves and silly things that only Andy can do. Moreover, the ensemble is impenetrable. Looking back now, Michael may have made a big mistake during the reorganization period, but this work is sharp. Perhaps reflecting his nervous personality, the carefully rehearsed performance is a far cry from the first day’s performance, and the show is fresh and tight with a sense of urgency. Michael Schenker returned in 1993. It is “STRANGERS IN THE NIGHT 15 years later” where you can enjoy the first day with the best stereo sound board. This is a historical masterpiece that allows you to enjoy the “Golden Five” including Andy, which was not available on the official reunion live album, and even the extremely rare “Hot ‘N’ Ready.” Please look back on Pete Way’s memories this weekend with a clear stereo sound board.
