Description
U2 in 1984 pioneered a new era with “THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE” featuring Brian Eno. Two masterpiece live albums that convey the scene will be released simultaneously. This work is the first part of such a two-part release. It is a superb audience recording of the “November 5, 1984 Edinburgh performance”. Speaking of the “THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE” era, in addition to musical adventures, U2’s presence increased rapidly due to their appearance at the legendary “LIVE AID”. We have archived as many masterpieces as possible at our shop. Let’s start by looking back at the overview of their activities at that time, which also serves as an organization of the collection. 1984 August 29th – September 24th: Oceania (19 shows) October 1st: THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE released October 18th – November 21st: Europe #1 (21 shows) November 24th + 25th: BAND AID session December 1st – 16th: North America #1 (10 shows) WORCESTER 1984 January 23rd – February 10th: Europe #2 (13 shows) BOLOGNA 1985 etc. February 25th – May 4th: North America #2 (40 shows) May 25th – July 7th: Europe #3 (8 shows) MILTON KEYNES 1985 etc. July 13th: LIVE AID appearance August 25th: LARK BY THE LEE appearance This is “THE The overall picture of the “UNFORGETTABLE FIRE Tour”. The Edinburgh performance of this work was the 13th performance of “Europe #1”, which is the beginning of the tour. It was about one month after the album was released. This work, which vacuum-packed such a show, is a famous recording with a fierce clarity. The master was provided by an overseas researcher, but the air is crystal clear and the fine details are super clear. The angle of the pick that plucks the guitar strings seems to be felt, and each of the bass’s attack sounds stands out, and the lines they draw are clear and crisp like beads. The transparency is so great that the sense of distance is eliminated, and even when the instruments overlap, they do not mix. It is as vivid as a radio broadcast. The super clear sound depicts a full show full of U2’s uplifting feeling that has stepped into a new dimension. Speaking of the masterpieces of this tour, our press masterpiece “MILTON KEYNES 1985 (Wardour-587)” is also familiar, but this work is slightly different in set because it is the beginning of the tour. Let’s organize it while comparing it here. ? (6 songs) Wire / MLK / The Unforgettable Fire / A Sort Of Homecoming / Bad / Pride (In The Name Of Love) Others (12 songs) WAR (fight): Surrender (★) / Two Hearts Beat as One (★) / Seconds / Sunday Bloody Sunday / New Year’s Day / 40 Others: 11 O’Clock Tick Tock / I Will Follow / The Cry-The Electric Co. / October / Trash, Trampoline And The Party Girl / Gloria *Note: The “★” mark is a song that cannot be heard on the masterpiece “MILTON KEYNES 1985” or the simultaneously released “WORCESTER 1984”. … and it is like this. The two songs “Surrender” and “Two Hearts Beat as One” were dropped from the set in the middle of “North America #2”. In particular, “Surrender” is a repertoire unique to that time that has not been revived since then. And the performance that spells out such a set is fresh and dazzling. Perhaps it is because of the fiercely clear sound, but the passion and energy that bursts out of the momentum is amazing. The previous work “WAR” had won the UK No. 1, but “THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE”, which poured its confidence and adventurous spirit, also became the UK No. 1 again. A band is most energetic when a new challenge is successful. This work was recorded at the moment when they began to realize such success. U2 will conquer the whole earth with the next “THE JOSHUA TREE”. However, the overture to that work had begun at the time of this work. A super clear masterpiece that speaks of that fact more eloquently than a thousand words. The finest audience recording of “Edinburgh performance on November 5, 1984”. This is the best master provided by an overseas researcher, and is a famous recording with a fierce clarity. The air is crystal clear and even the fine details are super clear. The transparency is so great that the sense of distance is wiped away, and it is so vivid that it feels like a radio broadcast.
