Description
In 2017, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of their fifth album, “The Joshua Tree,” they announced that they would be going on a special tour in North America and Europe, which caused a big stir. This compilation includes various videos from the beginning of the tour. First, disc 1 contains 75 minutes of trailer footage and TV live performances from this 30th anniversary tour. The three fragmented songs are official footage from a Seattle performance on May 14th, and in the studio live performance on the US TV program “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on May 23rd, gospel singers who were waiting in the audience stood up and started singing at once in the second half of the song, and they performed two songs: “Owari Naki Tabi” with a moving arrangement that becomes a grand ending, and “The Little Things That Give You Away,” an unreleased song from the soon-to-be-released “Songs Of Experience.” In addition, rare numbers and songs that were performed together are additionally recorded, although they are audience shots from this tour. All of these are valuable, including “Mothers Of The Disappeared” with Eddie Vedder’s participation at the Seattle concert, the unreleased “The Little Things That Give You Away” that was performed early on the first day, “MLK” that was performed only once on the first day, and “One Tree Hill” that was performed in response to the bombing of Ariana Grande’s concert in Manchester. In addition, disc:2 includes a complete recording of the first day of the two consecutive performances at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California on May 20th and 21st, with a multi-camera mix specification based on various audience footage, for 125 minutes. Some parts are of professional shot level quality, and there are many other stable angles, with good shots from close range inserted throughout. The album, which was number one in many countries around the world when it was released and won the Grammy Award for Best Album, was to be fully reproduced as a masterpiece in rock history, and it was expected to be performed at 33 stadiums in North America and Europe, attracting more than 1.7 million spectators. As in the past, the two days started with the early representative numbers “Sunday Bloody Sunday” and “New Year’s Day”, and the album was fully reproduced from the sixth song “Where the Streets Have No Name”, and from there, all 11 songs were performed in the order of the album. In addition, as a tribute to Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, who committed suicide a few days ago, Bono’s MC dedicated “Running to Stand Still” from this album to him. Up until now, the set has been almost fixed, but on the 20th, after “One” as an encore, they performed no new songs, but instead closed with “Miss Sarajevo”, “Bad” and “I Will Follow”, another rare performance of the highest quality.
