Description

The early U2 soundboard collection has been very well received. Among them, the highest peak version of the precious “BOY Tour” is now available. This work is engraved with “June 8, 1981 Sittard Geleen”. It is a stereo soundboard recording from the appearance at the traditional Dutch music festival “PINKPOP FESTIVAL”. As you may know if you have noticed this article, we are archiving the early U2 soundboard album with the highest peak update master under the supervision of overseas U2 researchers. Even in that collection, “BOY Tour” corresponds to the very early period. First of all, let’s unravel the steps and organize the collections that we have introduced so far. 1980 ・January 5th + 11th: Ireland (2 shows) ・February 1st – March 19th: UK #1 (20 shows) ←※DUBLIN 1980 ・May 9th – June 8th: UK #2 (23 shows) 《May 16th: Single “11 O’Clock Tick Tock” released》 ・July 10th – 28th: UK #3 (7 shows) ・September 1st – December 3rd: Europe #1 (59 shows) ←※KRO STUDIO, HILVERSUM 1980 《October 20th “BOY” released》 ・December 6th – 15th: North America #1 (24 shows) ・December 17th – 22nd: Ireland (5 shows) 1981 ・January 23rd – February 21st: Europe #2 (22 shows) ←※DEN HAAG 1981, March 3rd – May 31st: North America #2 (57 performances) ←※BAYOU CLUB 1981, June 6th – 9th: Europe #3 (3 performances) ←★Here★《August “OCTOBER” completed》This is the journey from 1980 to the production of “OCTOBER”. For convenience, the above “UK” also includes some performances in Ireland. U2 moved from Ireland to the UK mainland in 1979, and their first time traveling to continental Europe was in 1980 when “BOY” was released. The appearance of this work at “PINKPOP FESTIVAL” was the concert on the middle day of “Europe #3”, the final stage of such a “BOY Tour”. This work recorded at such a show is a truly superb soundboard. Speaking of “PINKPOP FESTIVAL”, the combination of “several songs on TV / long radio broadcast” is the standard, but U2 in 1981 was no exception. Of course, the basis of this work is the long FM broadcast, and it is the highest peak master derived by researchers. In fact, its quality is worthy of being called “completely official class”. Although the masterpiece “DEN HAAG 1981” was also official class, its individuality was a “recorded sound” that was directly connected to the table. In contrast, this work has a neat and tidy mix. It is a sound board with an even more “official work” elegance. The sound of the work depicts a full show exuding the joy and confidence of the first successful overseas tour. Speaking of “BOY Tour”, the rival is the masterpiece “DEN HAAG 1981”, so let’s organize the set while comparing them. Boy (9 songs, 10 takes) The Ocean / I Will Follow (2 takes) / An Cat Dubh / Into the Heart / Another Time, Another Place / The Cry-The Electric Co. / Stories For Boys / Out of Control / Twilight / I Will Follow Others (2 songs) 11 O’clock Tick Tock / Boy-Girl (★) *Note: ★ marks are songs that cannot be heard on the CD “DEN HAAG 1981”. …And so on. Basically, it follows “DEN HAAG 1981”, but also features the rare song “Boy/Girl” from this period. In addition, “I Will Follow” is played twice. And above all, the passionate performance that spells out such a set is wonderful. Not only has it grown a lot after a full-scale tour, but the tension is also very high. After all, the audience on this day is said to be an estimated 48,000 people, a large crowd that U2 had never experienced before. Witnessing this, they are burning with the ambition to imprint their music in their minds more than anyone else. This sound board is where their enthusiasm flows directly into their brains, and their tension is transferred to them, making their fists gooty. If you want to experience the rawness of a direct connection to the table, choose “DEN HAAG 1981”, and if you want an “official substitute” with a well-balanced mix, choose this work. Although they have different personalities, the two great sound boards, which are neither inferior, are all in the highest quality board supervised by researchers. This is an absolute board that is just as valuable as “BOY”…or even more so. Stereo sound board recording of the “Pink Pop Festival Performance on June 8, 1981”. The highest peak update master selected by overseas U2 researchers, the quality is exactly “completely official class”. The masterpiece of “BOY Tour”, “DEN HAAG 1981 (Wardour-520)”, was also a direct connection to the table, but this work has a well-balanced mix and is neat. A soundboard with even more “official” elegance. The rare song “Boy/Girl” from this period is also an absolute must-have from the “BOY” era, where you can enjoy a delicious full show. Burgemeester Damen Sportpark, Geleen, Netherlands 8th June 1981 (46:46) 01. The Ocean 02. 11 O’Clock Tick Tock 03. I Will Follow 04. An Cat Dubh 05. Into The Heart 06. Another Time, Another Place 07.
