Description
The gigantic tour of the century, “U2 360° TOUR,” achieved an astronomical success with box office revenue of 736.14 million dollars and audience attendance of 7,268,430 people. The best pro shot has been decided to be released. This work was filmed at the “Pasadena performance on October 25, 2009.” “U2 360° TOUR” was a historic tour that broke the attendance record at more than 60 locations, but the Pasadena performance of this work was particularly strong. The attendance of 97,014 people was the highest ever for a solo concert in the United States, and the world’s first live streaming on Youtube was watched by more than 10 million people, the highest in history. It was a show full of records from start to finish. As many of you may have already noticed, this show was later made into a video work as “360° AT THE ROSE BOWL”. This work is not a copy of that… It is the Japan Broadcasting version that was aired on a certain satellite broadcasting station at the time. In order to get an idea of the circumstances surrounding that, let’s first look back at the tour dates of the century. ●2009 [“NO LINE ON THE HORIZON” released on February 27th]・June 30th – August 22nd: Europe #1 (24 performances)・September 12th – October 28th: North America #1 ( 20 performances)←★Coco★ ●2010《June 3rd “360° AT THE ROSE BOWL”》・August 6th-October 8th: Europe #2 (22 performances)・November 25th-December 19th: Oceania (10 performances) ●2011, February 13th + 18th: South Africa (2 performances), March 25th – April 13th: South America (7 performances), May 11th – July 30th : North America #2 (25 performances) This is the whole picture of “U2 360° TOUR” which lasted for two years. In the 2011 edition, the 20th anniversary of “ACHTUNG BABY” was also talked about, but the Pasadena performance of this work was very early. This was the 19th concert of “North America #1”. The commercial version was released the following year in June 2010, but it was broadcast in Japan three weeks later on June 24th. Although it is not explicitly stated in the program, it may have been a special program for promotional purposes (Japanese subtitles are also included in the MC). In any case, this DVD version of such Japanese broadcasting is truly the best. Since it is an official video by rock giant U2, there can be no defects, and it is a digital broadcast with zero deterioration. That is the transcendental quality that is no exaggeration to say that it is the highest peak in rock history spanning 65 years. Although I have no concerns about the visual quality, I am concerned about the length. After all, since it was released immediately, it was not broadcast in its entirety, but instead was edited as a digest. The commercial version was a full recording of 2 hours and 10 minutes, but this work is 58 minutes in line with the broadcast time frame. Let’s summarize the contents…●NO LINE ON THE HORIZON (4 songs)・Get On Your Boots/Magnificent/I’ll Go Crazy If I Don’t Go Crazy Tonight/Moment Of Surrender ●Others (6 songs) Song) WAR: Sunday Bloody Sunday・THE UNFORGETTABLE FIRE: The Unforgettable Fire・THE JOSHUA TREE: Where The Streets Have No Name・ACHTUNG BABY: Ultra Violet (Light My Way)・ALL THAT YOU CAN’T LEAVE BEHIND: Elevation・HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB: Vertigo… and it looks like this. There are 10 songs compared to the total of 23 songs in the product version, which is less than half, but each song is played in full. Above all, the super spectacle that broke world records can be more than conveyed through just 10 songs. Anyway, everything is huge. The four-legged stage set “THE CLAW”, which was the driving force behind breaking the attendance record, towers over the venue, and the huge screen and turbulent lighting create a veritable feast of light. The huge crowd of 97,000 people illuminated by that light surpassed even that “LIVE AID” crowd and looked more like a city than a concert venue. The huge sea of people waves to the melody and bounces around to the beat… You can tell from the many records alone that it’s outside the norm for concerts, but it’s a super spectacle that makes you understand it at first glance. You can enjoy it with the best professional shots. U2 was excited about their visit to Japan to recreate historical masterpieces. I want to be relieved that “THE JOSHUA TREE TOUR” has come to fruition, but I still regret not being able to experience “U2 360° TOUR.” This is a piece that heals such regrets…or rather, it stirs up guilt.
