Description
From the 1978 US tour, the Punch and Judy Theater performances in Grosse Pointe, Michigan on July 17th and 19th are completely recorded on both days with ultra-high quality audience recording. Uses the popular “JEMS sound source” as the master. The 17th was recorded with the highest level of sound, one of the best on the tour, with the punch of the sound, separation and balance, all at the highest level. After the North American tour that started in late June, the band ensemble and groove are in top condition, making this an ideal sound source. All the musical tones are recorded in an unusually clear manner, and every song is a perfect listen. Although the sound image is a bit high pitched, the clear sound is the best, and Bill’s percussion is recorded surprisingly clearly, making it very impressive. Both Eddie’s violin and Alan’s guitar play are recorded with outstanding sounds. The sound is unbelievably good, so you can enjoy performances with a unique sound image that cannot be experienced with recordings of other performances. Wetton’s enthusiastic singing in the final four minutes of By The Light Of Day was impressive. The tape change cut is 3:11 of Thirty Years, and tape deterioration and some analog loss can be seen before Presto Vivace. The vivid high-quality sound of Bill’s drums on Presto Vivace is truly exquisite. You can listen to the wonderful and ultimate dramatic performances of both In The Dead Of Night and Caesar’s Palace Blues. Even more surprising is the take on the 19th, which is recorded with the highest sound quality among all UK live albums as an audience recording, and fans will be amazed at how good the sound is and listen to it. The sound balance is the same as on the first day, and the overall listening experience is outstanding. Perhaps because of the venue’s PA, the bass gets louder at the 2 minute mark of Time To Kill. The violin solo of the same song, which is filled with a sense of urgency, is a masterpiece, and you can enjoy the ultimate dramatic performance. The Only Thing She Needs has a strange keyboard tone in the intro (it will be adjusted soon). Wetton’s passionate singing is wonderful for both days, and you can enjoy impressive performances in various places. The tape change cut is in one place near the end of By The Light Of Day. The keyboard sound on In The Dead Of Night is also great. Holdsworth’s solo play of the same song is like listening to a line recording. The sound of the rhythm section in the background is definitely the best ever. Anyway, all the musical sounds are recorded in ultra clear, and in addition, the swelling and standing of the sound is unbelievably wonderful, and you can enjoy a live performance with the highest sound quality you have ever experienced. . Everything is a miracle, the highest quality live album in UK history. Live at Punch And Judy Theatre, Grosse Pointe, MI.
