Description
The Jean-Michel Byron era was a unique point in TOTO’s history, which is filled with a variety of heroes. A soundboard album that allows you to experience the show at its best is now available. This work includes “October 8, 1990 Rotterdam Performance”. This is a stereo soundboard recording. The only “Planet Earth Tour” held during the Byron era also has an official video work “GREATEST HITS LIVE… AND MORE”, but this work is of course a separate performance. In order to explain the circumstances around that, let’s first look at the schedule at the time. [“PAST TO PRESENT 1977–1990” released on May 6th] ・September 18th-October 9th: Europe #1 (16 performances)←★Here★・October 23rd-November 1st: Japan ( 6 performances) ・November 3-16: North America (3 performances) ・November 30-December 18: Europe #2 (15 performances) This is TOTO in 1990. After the release of the greatest hits album “PAST TO PRESENT 1977-1990”, they toured mainly in Europe. The Rotterdam performance of this work was the 15th performance of “Europe #1”, which was just before coming to Japan. The Paris performance where the official video “GREATEST HITS LIVE… AND MORE” was recorded was “October 4th + 5th”, so the concerts were held around the same time. This work recorded at such a show is a vivid and vivid stereo sound board. The loud cheers between songs are far away, and the sharp-edged performance sound is clearly a direct connection to the desk mix. If this were a modern show, I would have judged it to be an IEMs recording. Although it’s too graphic to be released as an official work, from an underground perspective, it’s good. There is no sense of experiencing the actual venue/feeling of leaving the farm, but instead, the real thrill of being in sync with TOTO and being one with the performance itself is irreplaceable. Moreover, it is even more so when it comes to the extremely valuable and illusory Byron era. What is depicted with such sound is a large volume that far exceeds the official video “GREATEST HITS LIVE… AND MORE”. The official video was an incomplete version with many cuts, perhaps due to product balance or perhaps due to antipathy towards Byron. On the other hand, this work is a complete recording board where you can enjoy the full show while being a sound board. In order to get a feel for its large capacity, let’s compare and organize the sets here. Bobby Kimball era (9 songs) Space Knight: Georgy Porgy/Child’s Anthem (★)/Hold The Line Turn Back: English Eyes Sacred Sword: Africa/I Won’t Hold You Back/Rosanna/Afraid Of Love/Lovers In The Night (★) Joseph Williams era (4 songs)・Fahrenheit: I’ll Be Over You/Somewhere Tonight (★)/Without Your Love/Till The End (★) Others (6 songs)・PAST TO PRESENT: Love Has The Power (★) / Animal (★) / Out Of Love (★) / Can You Hear What I’m Saying (★) / Others: American Girl (★) / Red House (★) * Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard in the official video “GREATEST HITS LIVE… AND MORE”. …and it looks like this. The Stones’ “Let’s Spend The Night Together” is also listed in the track list below, but since this is an excerpt jam, it has been omitted above. Songs such as “Child’s Anthem,” “Lovers In The Night,” and “Till The End” are delicious, but the highlights are the new songs from “PAST TO PRESENT 1977-1990,” which featured Byron, and the extremely rare song “American Girl.” ”. Only “Out Of Love” was played on the 1999/2000 tour, but the other songs are exclusive to this tour. You can enjoy a number of repertoires that are the symbol of “Byron TOTO” on a sound board directly connected to your brain. It has already been 30 years since the controversial Byron era. Although it was a unique point in history, it also had a charm that could not be experienced anywhere else. It’s not that I wanted it to continue, but I want to experience it again…this is also one of the great pleasures of rock music that dominates the crowd. A live album where you can enjoy the taste with a super tight and direct stereo sound board. Stereo soundboard recording of “October 8, 1990 Rotterdam performance”. The loud cheers between songs were far away, and the sharp-edged performance sound was clearly a direct connection to the desk that was mixed on site, and there was no feeling of leaving the concert at all, but the synchronization with TOTO was amazing. The ensemble from Jean-Michel Byron’s era, a singularity in history, is poured into your brain, and you can hear new songs from “PAST TO PRESENT 1977–1990” and extremely rare songs that could not be heard in the official video “GREATEST HITS LIVE… AND MORE.” You can also enjoy “American Girl.” Live at Ahoy, Rotterdam, Holland 8th October 1990 STEREO SBD Disc 1 (60:06) 1.
