Description

A live item from Tony Williams’ hottest period. After playing an active role as a key member of Miles Davis’ Lost Quintet, he formed his own band, Lifetime. This is a precious live performance from 1971 when organ virtuoso Larry Young was still in the band. This is a coupling of video and audio, and although the DVD does not have a menu screen, the chapters are typed in accordance with the set list on the jacket. It is nice that the chapters are divided into small sections so that Tony’s drumming is easy to see. On the other hand, the CD has been edited so that the intervals between songs can be enjoyed at a good tempo. The improvisations that take place between songs are not divided into tracks, but are recorded as “one song” that should be listened to all the way through. This is a great coupling item that makes the most of the characteristics of both the CD and DVD.
