Description
The Armenian-born genius pianist, who is currently leading the way in jazz piano, has gone beyond the boundaries of jazz and created a new world of his own. Immediately after the release of his first album since moving to Nonesuch, “Mockroot,” the masterpiece performance he performed with the recording members is now available for the first time in a complete version on a superb high-quality stereo soundboard! This is the beginning of a new era of piano trios! After the release of “Mockroot,” the same members as in the recording, Sam Minaie, one of the strongest bassists today, who is an Italian-American born in the United States, studied world music under Charlie Haden and has been active in a wide range of activities, including many works by Tigran and many ensembles and orchestras around the world, and Arthur Nartek, a talented drummer who is at the center of modern jazz and was born in Zurich, Switzerland in 1990 and is now based in New York, and who stunned many fans by playing the terribly complex irregular time signatures on Hamasian’s old work with a perfection that seems impossible to be done by human beings. This legendary performance, which was at the forefront of hybrid jazz at the time, was performed in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on November 27, 2015. It was recorded over an hour and a half on the best high-quality sound board! ! Although he was educated in both jazz and classical music, Tigran has also been influenced by a wide variety of musical influences, including folk and rock from his native Armenia, as well as electro, poetry, death metal, and progressive rock. His concerts present a unique sound and sonic world that goes beyond the realm of jazz. He always plays fresh and lyrical improvisations, which were praised by the British magazine The Guardian. He skillfully manipulates the stillness that is characterized by his unique Armenian tranquil and fantastical melodies, and the movement that contains the opposing aggressive passion within himself, drawing all listeners into Tigran’s world before they even realize it. In addition, the set also includes many numbers from the album, such as “Karsu,” an impressive song in which Tigran arranged a traditional Armenian song from “Mokrut,” and “The Grid,” a tremendous jazz-prog song that starts with Tigran’s beautiful and fantastical intro and then suddenly develops into a bizarre and spectacular irregular time signature by Nartek and Minaie. These songs expand on the studio work in even more creative ways, and you can enjoy a performance that is well worth listening to!
