This rare recording features a high-quality stereo audience recording of a live performance in Rome, Italy, from the release of their fourth album, “The Raven.” Following their legendary first tour in Japan and their tour in support of the classic “The Raven” released in September 1979, this rare recording features a live performance in Rome, Italy, held on July 2, 1980, in the picturesque park in the shadow of Castel Sant’Angelo. Recorded from a low-quality cassette master, it offers a wide range and well-balanced sound, including vocals and choruses. The pitch, which was off by nearly a note due to the master recording, has been carefully corrected. This recording marks the band’s first performance since the infamous mid-June power outage at their Nice performance, which led to their imprisonment in France for inciting riots. It also showcases new songs from the album “Meninblack,” which they were recording in Rome at the time. The final song, “Peaches,” was played for the first time in about two years, and Dave’s astounding keyboard solo is legendary, as if he’d forgotten how to end the song! Five days after his release from prison in France, Jean-Jacques later said of the concert, “It was an incredible, truly incredible experience. I’ve never seen such a crowd in my life. They started rioting, demanding an encore.
