Description
THE JAM set out to conquer the world in 1977 with the release of “IN THE CITY” and “THIS IS THE MODERN WORLD.” A treasure album that allows you to experience the scene at its best is now available. What is infused into this work is “October 8, 1977 West Hollywood performance”. This is an excellent audience recording that vacuum-packs the entire show that took place twice a day. This work is also a recording that is currently a hot topic. This is a master released by the prestigious company “JEMS”, but in fact, that prestigious company is currently focusing on discovering a taper called “RG”. This “RG” was a recording artist who was active in LA from the late 70’s to the 80’s, and his main target was New Wave music. Around this time, there weren’t many serious recording artists around LA, and even if there were, most of them were aiming for big bands. Among them, “RG” had their eye on the up-and-coming new wave genre, and was making recordings as if to catch the invading British bands coming to America for the first time. Yes, I was recording the “hottest and most delicious times” of the now legendary bands. This work is a masterpiece that can be called THE JAM edition by such “RG”. In fact, let’s look back at the panoramic view of 1977, when THE JAM made a brilliant debut, to see how good this work was.・January 8th – March 25th: UK #1 (24 performances) ・March 28th: Paris performance ・March 30th – May 15th: UK #2 (16 performances) 《May 20th《 IN THE CITY” released》 June 4th – July 24th: UK #3 (42 performances) September 10th – 17th: UK #4 (3 performances) September 23rd + 24th: Sweden ( 2 performances) September 29th – October 1st: Netherlands (3 performances) October 8th – 16th: North America (10 performances) ←★Coco★ October 28th: Berlin performance 《November 18th “THIS IS THE MODERN WORLD” released》 November 17th – December 18th: UK #5 (25 performances) This is THE JAM in 1977. They have been performing live since 1976, all within the UK. The performance in Paris in March mentioned above was their first overseas performance, and their first trip to the US was in October. The West Hollywood performance of this work is Lee’s first day on such a “North American” tour, and you can enjoy two performances a day immediately after landing. “RG” was present at an enviable historical scene, but he is also a top-notch recorder. If the sound was bad in the first place, the prestigious “JEMS” would not embark on excavation, so the sound digitized directly from the original master is truly exquisite. The cramped feeling of being in a closed room at Whiskey A Go Go is so suffocating that there is no sense of distance. The sound of the guitar hitting the center is as thick as a rough rope, and the details are as fine as each individual fiber in a hangnail. Moreover, this work is the highest peak edition that further refines such a famous recording. Although the two performances in one day are all contained in one disc, the sound was slightly different between the “1st set” and the “2nd set” on the net original sound. Therefore, in this work, we have made individual adjustments to eliminate the discomfort as much as possible. The hiss noise that was slightly strong in the first half of the “1st set” was reduced, and in the second half of the “2nd set” the treble/constant temperature balance, which had changed due to on-site sound adjustments, was adjusted to improve the overall balance. We pursued not only instantaneous sound quality, but also total perfection as a musical work. What is depicted in such best quality is an innocent show that witnessed the United States for the first time. The sets for the two performances are slightly different, with the “1st set” being slightly longer. Let’s summarize the two performances here. In the City (7 songs, 12 takes)・I’ve Changed My Address/Time for Truth/Sounds From the Street/Bricks and Mortar/In the City/Takin’ My Love (★)/Slow Down (★) The Modern World (8 songs, 15 takes)・The Modern World/The Combine (★)/London Girl/Standards/In the Street, Today/All Around the World/London Traffic・Single B-side: Carnaby Street *Note : “★” is a song that is only available in the 1st set. …and it looks like this. The set is a condensed version of their two works “IN THE CITY” and “THIS IS THE MODERN WORLD,” with only the early songs creating a continuous, rich flow, including “Time for Truth,” “Takin’ My Love,” “Slow Down,” and “The Combine”, “London Traffic”, and other rare songs unique to the time were generously played. The performance is more than just a level of set that makes you feel grateful just to listen to it. Go wild with an explosion of youth! I thought that was the case, but it was heartwarming to see him play so carefully, even though he was a little nervous, probably because it was his first day in the US. Still, it’s really delicious to see him gradually getting into the groove and loosening up little by little in the two performances and regaining his original momentum. The “RG” collection captures up-and-coming bands with a sharp antenna and records the scenes that will later become legends. This is a treasure album that will be THE JAM edition. A piece where the initial impulse that everyone desires oozes out and overflows. An exquisite audience recording of the “October 8, 1977 West Hollywood performance” on the first day of his first visit to the United States. This masterpiece was directly digitized by the prestigious “JEMS” from the original master who vacuum-packed the entire show that was held twice a day. The feeling of being in a closed room in a small club was suffocating, and the sound of the guitar being the center of the performance was extremely thick, like a rough rope, and there was no sense of distance. The set, which is a condensed version of their first two works “IN THE CITY” and “THIS IS THE MODERN WORLD,” is full of rare songs unique to that time. It is a cultural heritage of rock history where you can experience the best of historical sites.
