Description

Terje Lipidal, a guitarist who mainly works for ECM Records and whose activities range from jazz to rock to contemporary music, will appear in a trio with Victor Bayley on bass and Billy Cobiham on drums. The long-awaited live performance from the Viersen Jazz Festival in Germany, recorded on an official soundboard sound source, has arrived. Listening to the setlist, which included songs written by Lipidal from the beginning of the live, including “Here Today Gone Tomorrow” written by Victor Bailey, gave me goosebumps. The funky sound played by Bailey’s singing and transcendent technique, Cobham’s powerful drums, and Lipidal’s sustaining introverted guitar strangely match, creating a performance that transcends genre boundaries. . In the second half of the live performance, Bailey’s bass solo jumps out to Weather Report’s “Birdland.” Furthermore, for the encore, Lipidal’s “Chaser” released in 1985 is a wild version that is incomparable compared to the studio recording, and this is a must-listen.
