Description

The latest and best live in Japan is here. This work was recorded at the “Okinawa performance on September 24, 2017”. It is an original recording of the performance in Japan that took place about a month ago. Some people may be wondering, “What? Ted is coming to Japan!?” That’s not surprising. This visit to Japan is not a so-called “Japan tour”. He appeared at the Friendship Festival, which is an annual event at the US Marine Corps base “Camp Hansen” in Okinawa. This event is not an ordinary music festival, but rather a public opening event for the US military base. There are many things such as military vehicle displays, a huge food court, and a store from the base’s store. The highlight is the outdoor concert. This concert is also very varied. Although rock bands are the main focus, there are also various shows such as Polynesian dance, Eisa, and ska. It’s a bit interesting, so let’s take a look at the lineup for “September 24th (2nd day)” where Ted appeared.・14:30/Oki (original eisa) ・15:30/ALL JAPAN GOITH (ska) ・16:30/44A (variety band) ・17:30/BODYSONIC (metal) ・19:30/TED NUGENT ←★here★ The above five groups. You can see that it really feels like a festival. The festival lasted for two days, and Ted was the last act on the final day. This work has a great, eccentric atmosphere, but the sound that conveys it is also great! The original master, which was brought to us by our own route, was directly converted into a CD, and this is an amazing, superb product. The venue is an outdoor stage, but the sound is so close that it feels like you’re actually in a rehearsal studio. Even though you can still see the zero echo that is unique to the outdoors, the detailed details have a thick “core” like a rough rope and a direct connection. There are many audience recordings that are called “like a sound board”, but there are not many that have such a close contact feeling. However, this work is also full of audience recordings. It is a very raw breath of the scene. Although it is completely overrun with rough rope sounds during the performance, it gets very exciting between songs. Particularly wonderful is actually the opening. First, the DJ appears and livens up the opening, but it’s almost like a pro wrestling or K1 player call. Furthermore, since it is a US military base, they stir up the Yankees in native English, and a big call of “USA! USA!” occurs. So as soon as the SEs of “We’re An American Band” and “Street Fighting Man” are played, the audience starts singing, and “The Star-Spangled Banner” roars with ferocious chord strumming… There are probably many US soldiers, especially rugged Marines. If you listen carefully, you can hear some Japanese voices, but the atmosphere is that of a rural American festival. Apparently, young soldiers got so enthusiastic that they started a mosh pit and had to be stopped by the MP, but that authentic mood is in the air. Among them, the burning rock and roll of Ted the Beast explodes and is extremely hot. They also perform the 90s’ “Fred Bear”, the 21st century numbers “Rawdogs & Warhogs” and “I Still Believe”, but the rest is thoroughly 70s. The lineup is packed with numbers from the rare, scorching live album “DOUBLE LIVE GONZO!” Of course, the guitar that sounds like the word “wild”, the vocals that howl wildly, the inappropriate appearance… everything is “beast” itself. Ted is now 68 years old, but his wild rock has not weakened in the slightest. And the backing is also strong. The trio with Greg Smith (formerly of RAINBOW/DOKKEN/Alice Cooper, etc.), who has been working with Ted for 10 years, and Jason Hartless, who is just 22 years old and explosive in his youth, stands out for its simplicity. Each sound is like a rough rope, and it seems as if three of them are entangled to weave a thick rope. It’s a super hot rock and roll show that makes you wonder, “Is this a performance in Japan!?” It’s like the real America… No, the enthusiasm of the “US Marines”, whose name is known around the world, is even more so. Such a mood is very much in the barbaric rock of Ted Nugent… Who could have imagined that such a vulgar rock would exist in “Okinawa in 2017”? If we keep quiet, the world will never know about this extraordinary and intense live performance. It will just fade away in the memories of the audience on site… We must do our best to convey the “amazing!” that is only possible because of Ted, because of Okinawa, and because of the US military base.
