Description

TALKING HEADS restarted in 1982 after David Byrne and Jerry Harrison’s solo activities. A live album that allows you to experience the scene at its best is now available. What is infused into this work is “August 18, 1982 Minneapolis Performance”. It is a transcendental audience recording. Speaking of the early 1980s, it is a memorable place because they were able to perform in Japan twice. In order to remember those days, let’s first look back at an overview of our activities in 1981/1982. 1981《February: Release of Byrne’s “MY LIFE IN THE BUSH OF GHOSTS”》 February 23-28: Japan #1 (6 performances)《June: Production of Harrison’s “THE RED AND THE BLACK”》 [December: Byrne’s “THE CATHERINE WHEEL” released] 1982 [March 24th “The NAME OF THIS BAND IS TALKING HEADS” released] April 20th – May 2nd: Japan #2 (9 performances)・July 1st – 26th: Europe (18 performances) [Production of “SPEAKING IN TONGUES” begins in July] ・August 7th – September 22nd: North America (32 performances) ←★Here★ This is 1981/1982 TALKING HEADS of the year. In 1981, while focusing on solo activities, the only activity as a band was the performance in Japan in February (Japan #1: 2nd time). After that, they restarted as a band in April 1982 (Japan #2: 3rd time). Then, in the summer, he parted ways with Brian Eno and began producing “SPEAKING IN TONGUES,” and at the same time, he toured Europe and North America for the first time in two years. The Minneapolis performance of this work is one act of such a restart tour. This was the 10th concert of the “North American” leg. This work recorded at such a show is a superb sound that makes you want to line up the “super” one after another. It is a new excavation master recently announced by the prestigious “Krw_co”, and it is extremely clear and vivid. If you listen closely with headphones, you can hear a very small amount of hall noise, but it doesn’t become cloudy or muddy, and it doesn’t give you a sense of distance. Rather, it gives the sound of the PA an exquisite thickness and luster, giving it a sparkling shine. Speaking of the advantages of audience recording, “reality” and “realism” come to mind, but in fact, the best recording also has a unique “feel of beauty”. This work is a sample recording of that, and at first glance it feels like it’s a soundboard, but the more you concentrate, the more you realize the beauty that is unique to a guest record…such a super beauty. It’s a recording. What is depicted with such “sound of beauty” is a full show unique to the restart era, which also includes solo numbers by the two. Speaking of their live shows, the traditional record “THE NAME OF THIS BAND IS TALKING HEADS” is the standard above all else, so let’s organize the set while comparing. TALKING HEADS (10 songs)・Psycho Killer ’77・More Songs: Take Me To The River・Fear of Music: Cities/Mind/I Zimbra/Life During Wartime・Remain in Light: Once in a Lifetime/Houses in Motion・Speaking in Tongues: Swamp (★)・Others: Love → Building on Fire Solo (5 songs)・David Byrne: Big Blue Plymouth (Eyes Wide Open) (★)/My Big Hands (Fall Through the Cracks) (★) / Big Business (★) / What a Day That Was (★) Jerry Harrison: Slink (★) *Note: “★” indicates “THE NAME OF THIS BAND IS” A song that can’t be heard even in “TALKING HEADS (Extended Edition)”. …and it looks like this. An expanded version of the official work “THE NAME OF THIS BAND IS TALKING HEADS” was also released in 2004, but this work is full of famous songs that can’t be heard there. “Swamp”, which will be included in the next album “SPEAKING IN TONGUES” which is currently in production, was already performed, and the repertoire that was unique to the early 1980s was scattered, such as Byrne/Harrison’s solo songs released in 1981. That’s what I’m doing. Anyway, beautiful sound. Although the audio quality is soundboard quality, the reality of the scene that appears in your eyes and the beauty that touches your heart are full of “brilliance that can only be achieved with audience recording.” With such a sound, it is a masterpiece of music difference that allows you to experience the best full show of the restart era, which is different from “THE NAME OF THIS BAND IS TALKING HEADS”. Superb audience recording of “August 18, 1982 Minneapolis Performance”. This is a new excavation master released by the prestigious “Krw_co”, but at first glance it feels like it’s a sound board, but the more you concentrate, the more you realize the beauty that is unique to a guest record…such a super・This is a beautiful recording. Rare songs that can’t be heard on “THE NAME OF THIS BAND IS TALKING HEADS” are also great, such as “Swamp” which will be included in the next album “SPEAKING IN TONGUES” which is currently in production, and solo songs by David Byrne and Jerry Harrison.
