Description

One year before he produced his debut work “Street Corner Poetry.” 24-year-old Suzanne Vega had no way of knowing she would make the leap to the world. Introducing a soundboard album where that innocent singing voice is poured directly into your brain. What is recorded in this work is “March 15, 1984 Northampton Performance”. This is a superb soundboard recording recorded at two performances typical of a young man who performed two stages a day as a matter of course. Normally, I would have continued by saying, “Suzanne’s schedule in 1984…”, but as expected, there is too little information about her before her debut. Of course, there are no live records in 1984, but there is no record of the Northampton performance of this work. There are two stages revealed by this work. To put it bluntly, if you listen to it, it is a rare live performance, but the quality of this work is the opposite. Suzanne, who has a wealth of official bootlegs, is a special product that can be officially released without any problems. In fact, it doesn’t have a wide feel and I’m wondering if it’s stereo or not, but Suzanne’s narration is in the first place. If a solo performance had a full stereo effect, it would be unnatural, but the direct feeling that is directly connected to C is what is most important. In fact, the feeling of direct connection is unparalleled, and the breath level is natural. Her vocalization is so vivid that it feels like her eardrums are directly connected to each other, and when a word is unintentionally leaked out, there is a sense of synchronization in which you can feel her breath passing through the mesh of the microphone in your inner ear. I was about to write “It’s like IEMs,” but it’s a super close-up sound that’s even more than that. It is a transcendental sound that requires the use of all the vocabulary, but it is the music itself that is at a loss beyond that dimension. The content is too deep. I’ll try my best to put it into words, but it might be easier to understand if you look at the set. Here, let’s organize the famous songs by album. Street Corner Poetry (10 songs in total)・EARLY SET (DISC 1): The Queen and the Soldier/Knight Moves/Some Journey/Neighborhood Girls/Cracking/Small Blue Thing・LATE SET (DISC 2): Marlene on the Wall/Freeze Tag/Straight Lines/Undertow Solitary (alone) (3 songs, 4 takes)・EARLY SET (DISC 1): Tom’s Diner/Gypsy・LATE SET (DISC 2): Calypso/Gypsy Other (8 songs)・EARLY SET (DISC 1): The Boulevardiers/Black Widow Station/The Silver Lady・LATE SET (DISC 2): The Rent Song/The Marching Dream/Daniella/Just Friends/Playing…and so on. It’s frustrating that I can’t even say “evening part/night part” because I don’t even know the start time, but what comes out is a storm of unreleased songs. As a newcomer, he divided the stage into two stages and performed all the songs from his debut album “Machikaku no Uta”, as well as three songs from his second album. This is within the expected range, but the other eight songs (in fact, one album’s worth) are numbers that could not be heard on the regular album. Of course, if you check carefully, you’ll also find “Black Widow Station” and “The Rent Song”, which were familiar from the excavated live album, as well as “The Marching Dream”, which was heard on the compilation disc, and “The There is also “Silver Lady”. However, I don’t remember “The Boulevardiers,” “Daniella,” and “Playing,” and the song title itself for “Just Friends” is not in the live record. You can enjoy such treasured songs in full and on the official super close-up & superb sound board. It is a super direct sound that can only be achieved by leaking people involved… or should I say, it is possible only by leaking. Moreover, it is a treasure trove of all the songs of historical masterpieces and unreleased songs unique to before debut. The horizon on which this work stands no longer concerns the distinction between official and unofficial. This is a super masterpiece that everyone who has been touched by Suzanne’s songs and singing voice should touch.
