Description

In 1985, Suzanne Vega attracted attention as a rising star of neo-acoustic music with her beautiful debut album. Introducing a soundboard album that allows you to experience the best of that stage. This work includes “October 13, 1985 Berlin Performance”. This is a stereo soundboard recording. After releasing her debut album SUZANNE VEGA (Street Corner Poetry) in May 1985, she held sporadic gigs rather than a full-fledged tour. There are many ambiguous records from that time, so I will not go into details about the schedule, but six months later, in October, he went to Europe. We also performed shows in Germany and England. The Berlin performance of this work was also held as part of that, and it is a sound board recorded for FM broadcast. The quality is so-called “completely official grade”. If you imagine an ordinary official work, the direct feeling of direct connection to the mix console may seem too raw, but it can’t be helped because it’s more organized and glossy than the actual official version of “LIVE AT THE SPEAKEASY.” . It is an ideal sound board that is more beautiful than the official version, while having a tremendous sense of synchronization that can easily enter your ears and become one with Suzanne. It is a show unique to the early days that is depicted with such beauty and intimate sound. “LIVE AT THE SPEAKEASY” mentioned earlier was in April 1985 just before the album debut, but this work is set six months later and is different. Let’s compare and organize them here. Street corner poetry (all songs)・Some Journey/Small Blue Thing/Cracking/Undertow/The Queen and the Soldier/Knight Moves/Straight Lines/Freeze Tag/Marlene on the Wall/Neighborhood Girls Others (3 songs)・Loneliness (alone) : Tom’s Diner/Luka (★)・Soundtrack: Left of Center (★) *Note: Songs marked with “★” cannot be heard on “LIVE AT THE SPEAKEASY”. …and it looks like this. The live performance of all 10 songs from their debut work is the same as “LIVE AT THE SPEAKEASY”, but the major difference is other than that. They also performed “Left of Center,” which they provided for the movie “Pretty in Pink,” which had not yet been released, and the number from their 2nd album “SOLITUDE STANDING.” The show starts with “Tom’s Diner”, but even at the beginning there is an innocent greeting, “My name is Suzanne Vega. I’m from New York.” It has only been a short time since her debut, and this is a soundboard album in which the fresh singing voices of those who have just taken flight into the world for the first time flow into your brain. That’s all. It can also be enjoyed as a live version of “Street Corner Poetry”, and is a masterpiece of a super-close soundboard that allows you to feel the breathing of the 25-year-old Suzanne.
