Description

From the show at the famous New York club, Michales, which took place for four consecutive days from December 14th, 1979, this part 1 contains the first half of the show on the 14th and 15th, all recorded in official quality and on a stereo soundboard. First of all, the late show on the 15th at Michales was officially released as a live album “In New York”, but the sound quality was not very good, and it was badly edited, with the performance faded in and faded out, so it was hard to call it official. In the midst of all this, this title is a complete recording of all the live sound sources from these four days, with 24-bit digital remastering on the soundboard master leaked by the people involved, in the quality of the official level. First of all, this part 1 contains the two stages on the first day, the 14th, and the first show on the following day, the 15th, on a stereo soundboard with the highest quality sound. First of all, the sound quality is simply amazing, with the twin guitars of Dupree and Gale and the double drums of Gadd and Parker perfectly separated into the left and right channels in stereo, allowing you to clearly hear every detail of the six members’ performance, resulting in an incredibly high-resolution sound. And the performance content is also amazing, as if the limiter had been removed, as it is a gig at their home ground, Michael’s, and with a six-member lineup including Chris Parker, who did not participate when they visited Japan. In particular, “Duck Soup”, “Sometimes Bubba Gets Down”, “Real McCoy”, and “How Long Will It Last” show completely different expressions on each stage, and are played with a high level of tension and excitement. In addition, the sophisticated urban groove of “Signed Sealed Delivered I’m Yours”, and the Staff-like “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” are the true essence of 70’s electric jazz and crossover, and are masterpieces for all jazz fans. These four performances were recorded using equipment brought in specifically for official live recordings, and the members were fully aware of this, so overall the impression from the first two days was that the performances were upbeat, urbane and cool. disc one : 01.
