Description
The performance at the Tokyo Welfare Pension Hall on July 16, 1980 will be the first to be released on a high-quality stereo soundboard! ! Staff appeared at the end of the final day of the “Rolling Coconut Revue Japan” event, which was held at the Harumi Dome in Tokyo for three days in April 1977, inviting many musicians from Japan, the UK and the US. This was Staff’s memorable first performance in Japan. However, due to schedule conflicts, Gale and Gadd were not able to participate, so the stage was performed by just the four of them… Impressed by the enthusiastic response of the Japanese audience and the sincere response of those involved, the members of Staff finally toured Japan alone in November 1977. After that, they performed in Japan almost every year during their activities, in 1978 (the concert at the Tokyo Postal Savings Hall can be heard on the official “Live Staff”), 1980, and 1981, when each member became busy with solo activities and the band fell apart. The performance at the Tokyo Koseinenkin Hall on July 16th from the 1980 Japan Tour has been recorded on a superb high quality stereo soundboard with careful mastering by the label itself! The concert will bring tears to the eyes of fans as you can hear the staff’s representative songs and even precious songs that were not included in the studio album. It includes their debut song “Hoots”, Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours” with Tee’s superb piano and Gadd and Parker’s explosive drums, as well as “Ain’t No Mountain High Enuff”, “The Real McCoy”, “You Make It Easy”, the deadly “That’s the Way of the World” and “Feelin’ Alright”. ” Dupree and Gale’s exquisite double guitar, Tee’s beautiful electric piano and groovy acoustic piano that no one can imitate, Gordon’s rugged and grooved bass and lovable, but good vocals, the best groove and godlike drums that only Gadd can express, and unfortunately Parker is absent, but they grabbed the hearts of the audience with a performance full of humanity that is almost like singing, armed with the gritty groove and solid sound that is the essence of their southern soul, R&B, and swamp. Their stylish bubble feeling in the studio is amazing, but in the live performance, the wild intertwining of each member’s instrument explodes while strongly exuding the R&B color that is their roots, which is the opposite of the pre-AOR atmosphere of the studio work! !
