From a label with a good reputation for recordings of Japan tours, two performances at Nippon Budokan on April 21st & 22nd, 2017 are coupled with the best quality sound and video. The CD recordings are from the two-day Budokan tour, which was the band’s first performance in four years. The CD is a full matrix of the line sound source from the uncompressed multi-ear monitor source used by the band members on stage, and the digital audience master from the front row. This is already a familiar feature of the label, and in recent years, the sound factors such as the equipment used and mastering environment have evolved dramatically. The concert finally started with “I Wanna Be Adored”, and Ian, standing upright and motionless, sang almost every note, which was unusual for him, and the tension gradually eased, and John, Mani, and Reni’s playing started to bounce tightly, and Reni in particular was at full throttle from the beginning, and in “Sally Cinnamon”, where he hit the hi-hat, tom and snare at high speed up and down and left and right, the Roses chemistry appeared early. After that, the set mainly consisted of songs from their debut album “The Stone Roses”, and although there were a few songs from “Second Coming”, the new song “All For One” released the previous year was played for the first time in Japan. John Squire’s guitar was featured on R&R groove tunes such as “Begging You” and “Love Spreads”, and the flow from “Waterfall” to “Don’t Stop” was also a perfect blend, and “Fools Gold” was a truly miraculous and moving performance. The finale included the Roses’ ultimate singalong tune “Made Of Stone”, “This Is The One” which caused a big hand-clap, and of course the end with the song “I Am the Resurrection” which seemed to declare a complete revival. The set list was the same on both days, but as a bonus, the sound check that took place before the doors opened on the first day was also included. You can also listen to Ian’s a cappella version of “Black Roses” and “Daybreak” with Reni’s vocals, which was not played at the live performance. The video 2 DVD includes a full recording of the two performances with multi-camera audience shots. The shots from the stands are combined with multiple original footage, including arena shots, and finished with skillful editing for professional use. Especially on the second day, the quality of the professional shots is amazing, as it is combined with screen shots. The sound is professional specification that can be selected from two sources: the full matrix sound source used on the CD and the digital audience sound source.
