Description

A gold CD reprint series of “Mobile Fidelity” which has attracted a lot of attention. The latest bullet has been decided to be released. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL), a manufacturer specializing in analog masters, is a trusted brand that is highly supported by audio enthusiasts around the world. With all of his passion, the sound craftsman has digitized many great albums from master tapes. Among such series, this work includes the CD “UDCD 528″ released in January 1990. Yes, it’s Sting’s solo debut, “The Blue Turtle’s Dream.” [Mobile Fidelity prioritizes master tape sound] Many high-quality CDs appeared in the 1990s, when the conversion of analog works to CD was at its peak, but MFSL was in a class of its own. Other high-quality CDs are based on the idea of “suppressing digital deterioration” by using new technology to reduce the discomfort of compression, and by reducing reading errors in the material. On the other hand, MFSL’s policy is to “faithfully reproduce the sound engraved on the master tape and not add anything unnecessary.” We place the utmost importance on the “analog recorded sound itself,” including developing our own “half-speed mastering” technology that also focuses on the stage of extracting sound from magnetic tape. Since 1987, MFSL has borrowed original master tapes from record companies and meticulously digitized many masterpieces one by one. We have released the “Ultradisc” series, which transfers the sound of master tapes to CDs. Currently, it has expanded into the SACD and LP fields, but the point is that this work was released on CD in the first half of the 1990s. Magnetic tape masters are susceptible to deterioration over time, and the more time passes, the more the original sound is lost. There are cases where the tape becomes distorted or stuck, but even if it is stored precisely, it cannot prevent the tape from losing its magnetism. Nowadays, LPs recorded with physical grooves sound better than the master tapes themselves…and so on. In that respect as well, the “Ultradisc” series was a great achievement. It began in the 1980s when CDs were popular, and the sound of master tapes was digitized even before the advent of new CD technology that claimed high sound quality. [“Blue Turtle’s Dream” where you can even feel the “presence” of instruments] This work, “Blue Turtle’s Dream”, conveys the master sound “5 years after recording”. Its delicacy melts your heart. We have delivered the MF series of PINK FLOYD and QUEEN so far, but this work is the freshest among them. After all, “Blue Turtle’s Dream” was released in 1985, when CDs were already in their infancy. CDs have been released since the first release, and even in 1990, when the MF version was released, only five years have passed. The master is digitized before aging appears, and the “sound as it was recorded” and “studio vibe” flow out exactly as it was recorded. Moreover, unlike the equalized remasters of later years, it is just natural. Even if you pick up a single synth, the trebles that fly around are crisp and crisp, and the solemn deep bass has a “resonance” that makes it shake from the soul. Because it is unprocessed, all pitches and volumes are seamlessly connected without any peaks sticking out. Even more surprising is the detail. For example, the tambourine in “If You Love Somebody Set Them Free” and the hi-hat in “Children’s Crusade.” It’s a small ornamental sound, but on the remastered version, it’s beautiful as if it were emphasized by highlights, but it quickly disappears once it’s done its job. In contrast, in this work, which is a master tape itself, you can clearly hear the instruments until the moment they finish playing, and the sound is natural until the moment when the sound is sucked into the void. Albums are strictly works of sound, but in the case of this work, you can even feel the presence of the instruments that produce the sounds. Of course, this is just an example. The strings of the guitar and bass, the skin of the drums, the breathing of the horns and the singing voice…all the notes are extremely delicate, and even when they overlap, they don’t mix, creating the world that Sting envisioned. The master sound of the famous album has been preserved until today because it is a CD by “Mobile Fidelity”. Even if you want to get your hands on the actual product now, it will be difficult because it was originally produced in limited numbers. Taken from the original US Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab CD(UDCD 528) from Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab “Original Master Recording” Collection (41:45) 1. If You Love Somebody Set Them Free 2. Love Is The Seventh Wave 3. Russians 4 Children’s Crusade 5. Shadows In The Rain 6. We Work The Black Seam 7. Consider Me Gone 8. The Dream Of The Blue Turtles 9. Moon Over Bourbon Street 10. Fortress Around Your Heart
