Description
The final leg of Sting’s latest tour “Back To Bass Tour”, a live performance in Seoul, Korea on December 5, 2012, is recorded in super high quality stereo audience recording. The original master, which is not available among traders at all, is used. The sound is very close, the songs are captured clearly and well balanced, and the audience is picked up moderately, so you can enjoy the realism of the venue arena special seats for two hours. Also, some of the photos from the day of the performance are used for the artwork, which is a nice touch. After the highly acclaimed Symphonicity Tour (2010/05-2011/07) ended, Sting started the “Back To Bass Tour” in the fall of last year (2011/10~) to coincide with the release of “25 Years” (2011/09) to commemorate the 25th anniversary of his solo career. Sting changed from accompanying an orchestra to a tour with a strong rock color, taking up the bass. This tour lasted for about a year until the end of last year in December (the two months from June to July 2012 were called the “2012 Summer Tour”). Dominic Miller’s son Rufus Miller participated as a side guitarist, which became a hot topic, but he returned in the summer of 2012 to replace long-time member David Sancious on keyboards. This work captures the performance at the Olympic Gymnasium in Seoul, Korea, five shows before the final day (12/15 Indonesia), and as mentioned above, David Sancious is participating. The participation of Dominic Miller (guitar), Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), and David Sancious (keyboards), who have been involved in Sting’s solo career for a long time, is probably the most Sting-like band, and it is fitting to look back on 25 years of solo activity, which will be a delight for fans. On the day of the performance, Seoul experienced its first snowfall, even heavy snowfall (Sting also mentioned this in his MC), so the start time was delayed by 30 minutes from the scheduled time. After the show started, Sting greeted the audience in Korean, saying “Good evening, Seoul,” and performed a powerful performance that did not make them feel the cold. The fans went wild. The biggest point of the “Back to Bass Tour” was the use of Peter Tickell’s fiddle. Peter Tickell’s fiddle, which was noticed when he participated in Sting’s song “Soul Cake” in 2009, is delicate, gorgeous, and powerful, and this time, the best members were gathered together, and the sound with a stronger rock color was exquisitely intertwined, captivating fans with the Police/Sting songs that added new colors. In particular, the Improvisation after the performance of “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da” was a tense performance. It was so stimulating that it moved the listeners to listen. Peter Tickell’s fiddle adds an effective flavor to the Sting sound on songs like “Englishman In New York” and “Driven To Tears”. In addition, due to a change in the set list for the second half of the tour, “Wrapped Around Your Finger” and “De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da” were included for the first time on a solo band tour. This is a great thing for fans. In particular, “Wrapped Around Your Finger” is a must-listen for Sting’s lyrical singing and Dominic Miller’s expressive guitar sound effects. Other songs that are well worth listening to include the beautiful “End Of The Game” where he brings out a small stuffed fox and explains the gist of the lyrics, “I Hung My Head” where he shows off his amazing vocal range and singing ability, and the beautiful and heavy “The Hounds Of Winter” which reverberated throughout the hall, fitting for a snowy night. “Back To Bass Tour” showed a new Sting sound while tracing the 25th anniversary of his solo career. We would like to recommend this to fans who were disappointed that the Japan tour could not be realized this time, as it is the culmination of his solo activities. This ultra-high quality audio recording of the final leg of the Seoul performance, which was full of highlights, has been released.
