Description

In 1985, Sting made a spectacular solo debut with “Blue Turtle’s Dream” reaching number 2 in the United States. Introducing a soundboard album that brings out that momentum from the speakers. This work was recorded at “September 10, 1985 Cuyahoga Falls Performance”. This is the soundboard recording. Speaking of “DREAM OF THE BLUE TURTLES TOUR”, it is memorable not only for its blockbuster sensation but also for its appearance at the legendary festival “SUPER ROCK ’85”. First of all, let’s check the show’s position from the schedule at that time.・February 25th-27th: THE RITZ (3 performances) ・May 10th-31st: Europe #1 (8 performances) [“Blue Turtle’s Dream” released on June 1st] ・August 10th : SUPER ROCK’85 appearance ・August 13th – November 7th: North America (56 performances) ←★Coco★ ・November 9th: Puerto Rico performance ・November 20th – December 23rd: Europe #2 (24th performance) Performance) This is Sting in 1985. Showcase gigs had been held before the release of “Blue Turtle’s Dream”, but “SUPER ROCK ’85” was the beginning of the tour. Immediately after that, they began a US tour, and the Cuyahoga Falls performance of this work was the 20th performance of such a “North American” leg. This work, which records such a show, is a live album where you can fully enjoy the taste of the soundboard. It was digitized via DAT from an analog cassette recorded directly from the mix console, and is not polished enough to be called official quality. Rather than being a substitute for the official work, it is a direct recording with a raw rough feeling directly connected to the desk. In fact, the sense of synchronization is striking. Although the band received a lot of cheers due to their popularity, it was just a coincidence that came into the microphone, and the solid performance did not give up its place in the slightest. Although it doesn’t give you the sense of being there at the venue, each note of the performance has a very sharp outline, and it feels like there is a stage inside your brain. Even the slightly hiss-like sound image makes you feel like your head is part of the PA system. What is drawn with such a direct sound board is a full show where the burning spirit of independence overflows and drips. This tour is also included in the official live album “BRING ON THE NIGHT”, but while the traditional official version was about 80 minutes, this work is a full recording of about 122 minutes. Let’s organize the sets while comparing them here. THE POLICE・Outlands・D’Amour: Roxanne (★)・Zenyatta Mondatta: Driven To Tears・Ghost in the Machine: One World (Not Three)・Synchronicity: Every Breath You Take (★)・Others: Low Life/I Burn For You/Medley (Bring On The Night/When the World Is Running Down)/(The Dream of the Blue Turtles/Demolition Man) ●Solo and others・Blue Turtle’s Dream: Shadows In The Rain (★) /Consider Me Gone/Children’s Crusade/Love Is The Seventh Wave/We Work The Black Seam/Another Day/Moon Over Bourbon Street/Fortress Around Your Heart(★)/If You Love Somebody Set Them Free(★)・Cover: Down So Long (J.B. Lenoir) / Need Your Love So Bad (Little Willie John: ★) *Note: Songs marked with a “★” cannot be heard on the official version of “BRING ON THE NIGHT.” …and it looks like this. There are 6 songs in the repertoire that cannot be heard in “BRING ON THE NIGHT”, especially “Shadows In The Rain” and “Need Your Love So Bad” by Little Willie John (or should I say FLEETWOOD MAC’s famous song). The precious number is delicious. And, more than the volume, the flow of the show is also vivid. What comes to mind from the flow of “Shadows In The Rain” → “Driven To Tears” → “Consider Me Gone” is that “SUPER ROCK ’85”. This work can be said to be an expansion of “BRING ON THE NIGHT”, but rather it is a “full sound board reminiscent of SUPER ROCK ’85”. Sting took to the world as a solo musician at the age of 33. This is a 100% synchronized soundboard album in which he sings and plays in his head. A full show of “DREAM OF THE BLUE TURTLES TOUR” which is 40 minutes longer than the traditional “BRING ON THE NIGHT”.
