Description
The long-out-of-print official masterpiece video “THE SOUL CAGES CONCERT” is set to be released. This video was shot at the “May 9, 1991 Den Haag Performance (Netherlands)”. It is an official pro shot of “THE SOUL CAGES TOUR 1991-1992”. This video was released on VHS/Laser Disc in 1991, but has not been made into a DVD until now. This work is a DVD version of that out-of-print pro shot. First, let’s check the position of this work in the overview of the world tour. [1991] ・February 1st – March 30th: North America #1 (42 performances) ・April 2nd – July 17th: Europe #1 (60 performances) ←★Here★ ・August 3rd – October 22nd: North America #2 (50 performances) ・November 1st – December 15th: Europe #2 (30 performances) [1992] ・January 20th – February 12th: Japan (6 performances) ・February 14th + 15th: Hawaii (2 performances) A total of 190 performances. It was a large-scale tour unique to the heyday when we were enjoying the spring of our world, but the number of performances was condensed into about one year. It was an overcrowded tour that had an average of one concert every two days, including travel days and off. The performance in Japan was realized in 1992, which was the end of the period, but the performance in The Hague of this work was about half a year ago. This is the 15th performance of “Europe #1”. This work is official grade, although it was only an official product. It is not a mint Japanese laser disc, so it cannot be called the “highest peak in history” (if it were to be realized, it would be a permanent press!), but it uses a second-best quality overseas master. The best official footage has been revived with a visual beauty without a single white line noise. “THE SOUL CAGES TOUR” depicted with such quality is truly wonderful. Although it is an excerpt from the show, it is still recorded for about 85 minutes, and the selection is just “THE SOUL CAGES” + THE POLICE. Although “Fortress Around Your Heart” and “Fragile” are also played, 7 out of the 9 songs from that masterpiece album are played on the board, and in between, THE POLICE’s masterpieces are spun in a rush. It is a very clear composition, but the one that catches the eye is the Jimi Hendrix cover “Purple Haze”. Sting played this song on this tour and a few times in 1993. Not only is it rare, but the groovy performance is also wonderful, making it a scene that symbolizes “THE SOUL CAGES TOUR”. Furthermore, the band that plays such a show is also strong. In addition to Dominic Miller, David Sancious, and VINX, who also participated in the masterpiece “THE SOUL CAGES”, the drummer is Vinnie Colaiuta, a master of masters. He was a regular with Sting for seven years, but this was his first time participating. Although Sting always gathers talented musicians, the strength of this tour is on another level. You can enjoy the ensemble full of sense. Whether it’s the set list or the members, it’s a video version of the masterpiece “THE SOUL CAGES” and a live performance version… no, you could say it’s a version upgrade. Despite this great masterpiece video, it’s out of print… This is a piece that fills the hole in your heart after Sting leaves. Please enjoy it to the fullest.
