Description
GONG has released their new album “THE UNIVERSE ALSO COLLAPSES” and Steve Hillage has completed his first solo tour in 10 years. Introducing an original recording where you can experience their latest coupling tour. This work includes “Aylesbury performance on November 15, 2019”. It is an exquisite audience recording that records the whole story. The current Hillage Band includes members of the current GONG and longtime partner Miket Giraudi. Initially, they started performing live as a seven-piece group, but their current tour is a coupling style with GONG’s stage set up as the opening act. In order to imagine the circumstances around that, let’s check the show’s position on the schedule of Hillage, which is the main focus of this work. ●2019・June 6th-8th: UK #1 (3 performances)・July 21st: NIGHT OF THE PROG FESTIVAL performance・August 17th: Stevenage performance・November 14th-24th: UK #2 (11 performances) ←★Here★ ・November 28th – December 9th: Europe (4 performances) ●March 24th, 2020: Santiago performance This is the schedule announced so far. At our store, we have been reporting on the masterpiece “UK TOUR JUNE 2019 (Amity 558)” since the beginning of the show for the first time in 10 years, and it is the “UK #1” live album. It is a coupling from “UK #2” which is currently being held, and the Aylesbury performance of this work was the second concert. However, the above is just the Hillage schedule. There are some performances without GONG, and there are also stages with only GONG. This work, which recorded such a show, is an audience recording that combines clarity and neat sound. This is the latest work by a master who is well known as the “British Master” at our store, and it is quite a masterpiece in his collection. The individuality of the recording artist, who has both a realistic atmosphere and modern clarity, is alive, but this work has a wonderful direct feeling more than ever. Anyway, the strong core is strong and thrust right in front of you without giving you any sense of distance. The snare, which tends to be sparse in audience recordings, has a high density and deep bass, and the midrange is full of plenty of response. The exquisite sound that subtly wraps around the core that is separated from the audience. It’s a subtle hall sound that you won’t notice unless you listen closely with headphones, but it doesn’t hide the details and creates a rich and exquisite sense of fantasy. All songs are effective, but GONG’s big song “Forever Reoccurring” is especially great. The scattered sound fragments create a spacey mood, and the floating sensation that takes your brain to the edge of space would not be possible without these sounds. It’s a stunning sound that not only has clarity, beauty, and ease of listening, but also elevates the band’s musicality itself. What is depicted with such sound is a coupling show with a vivid contrast between the past and the present. Let’s organize both sets here. ●Disc 1: GONG・CAMEMBERT ELECTRIQUE: You Can’t Kill Me ・REJOICE! I’M DEAD!: Rejoice!/Insert Yr Own Prophecy・THE UNIVERSE ALSO COLLAPSES: Forever Reoccurring/My Sawtooth Wake ●Disc 2-3: THE STEVE HILLAGE BAND・FISH RISING: The Golden Vibe/The Salmon Song/Solar Musick Suite ・L: It’s All Too Much/Om Nama Shivaya/Lunar Musick Suite/Hurdy Gurdy Man・MOTIVATION RADIO: Motivation/Light In The Sky・GREEN: Sea Nature/Ether Ships/Palm Trees (Love Guitar)/The Glorious Om Riff・OPEN: The Fire Inside・Others: Talking To The Sun/Hello Dawn-I Never Glid Before…and so on. Very fresh considering the opening act GONG. The 70’s number is limited to “You Can’t Kill Me”, and the two recent albums “REJOICE! I’M DEAD!” and “THE UNIVERSE ALSO COLLAPSES” are included. Although there are only six songs, “Forever Reoccurring” is a 22-minute masterpiece, and “My Sawtooth Wake” is also 13 minutes. Even with past repertoire, it is around 9 minutes long, and it is a fine live album of about 1 hour as an opening act. In contrast to GONG, which appeals to the latest model, the main hill is completely traditional. From “FISH RISING” to “OPEN,” this album is filled with masterpieces from the 1970s, summarizing the heyday when they dominated the UK charts. As mentioned above, we introduced the first album of their comeback, “UK TOUR JUNE 2019”, but they also performed “Om Nama Shivaya” and “Hello Dawn/I Never Glid Before”, which you can’t hear there, making it even more diverse. It is. Of course, not only the set but also the performance is even more fulfilling. Supported by the current GONG’s impregnable backing, that unique phrase dances. You can fully enjoy the solo number that has finally begun to show its true potential with the best sound. GONG performs the big song “THE UNIVERSE ALSO COLLAPSES,” which explodes with psychedelic sensations, and Steve Hillage transcends time and space with his early solo masterpieces. This is a 3-disc set where you can fully experience the latest show featuring the heroes of Canterbury Rock. I really hope they continue to perform in Japan. This is a great masterpiece that will make you feel that dryness, but at the same time give you the soothing experience of actually listening to the sound.
